• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have downloaded the firmware and run the installation. When the 'Update Software' login appears, it will not accept the 'admin'/'admin' user name/password. (without the apostrophes)

I had no problem. Accepted admin/admin. I'm up and running.

Sibbley, did you do anything with the C++ portion of the installation? I am wondering if it might be something to do with that.

Also what version of Windows (or are you emulating through a MAC or Linux) are you using?

My 20 years in troubleshooting broke airplanes with the Air Force is showing.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and did a repair of the C++. After a reboot it still tells me the username or password is nor correct. PPS Logs in fine as usual so just the updater that isn't happy.

I tried again this time uninstalling both the updater and C++. Then ran the installer again and reinstalled both. Still giving the login error. Win 7 pro here as well. Also tried a fresh download of the installer from the website

Ray posted on FB that they update server can take only so many logins at once, hence the issue.
I've been in constant thought on whether to get a Unication or SDS100. Things like this just add to the pile. It smells of a hokey support system.

A post on the FB page says the login issue is the server being overloaded by all the hits to do the upgrade. Just keep trying, and trying, and...

So is the solution to the password problem to download version 1.1 again and reinstall?

Details are a bit sparse, but it sounds like the RemoteUpdater is trying to connect over the internet to a server at Unication, and that server is overwhelmed by us all trying to do it at the same time. If that's the case, it should not be be necessary to reinstall - just run the RemoteUpdater again later, and keep trying (periodically) until it gets past the "Login" stage
