I think AMR Riverside 155.295 pl 110.9 has gone digital. When they key up all I hear is like white noise, and the ct 110.9 is gone.
Anyone able to analyze the channel and let us know what it is?

If it is digital-P25 etc, then another one bites the dust.
Thx

Talking with one of the AMR crews, it sounds like they changed their radio system to something similar to CHP. Their portable radios transmit (UHF) to the ambulance and then the ambulance radio transmits (VHF) the message to dispatch. I don’t have any further info so I don’t know if anything was changed. I noticed they do have new mobile radios though. I didn’t bother to ask any other questions as 99% of public safety don’t know anything about radio systems. They just want them to work.

We switched over to a special digital system with Kenwood. I can only assume they are NXDN digital. Our new mobile radios are capable of being turned into a repeater so our HTs will work better when away from the ambulance. The radios are much nicer and sound way better than the old TK-790s we were using in the past. Obviously it’s because they are digital. Hopefully that helps you guys out. Unfortunately I don’t know any of the frequencies or if we are encrypted or not. The Comms Manager doesn’t really like to tell us much other than “this is how to use the radio, don’t mess it up”.

Thanks for the hints...

Some licenses show DMR and other licenses shows NXDN.
List on this page for active FCC licenses for AMR.

It's NXDN. I am listening to it right now on my Icom R8600. Both 155.295 and 155.355 are clear voice not encrypted.

I programmed in all of either the DMR or the NXDN Channels and I am not hearing anything. Maybe these changes are happening in waves over a period of time

Nothing in OC yet.

Likely the NX-5700.
We're using a few of those for our PD, nice radios, and a lot of capability.

That’s exactly what they are actually!! They are very nice. I’m just happy I don’t have to deal with any static or bad radio reception anymore. It always got super bad in Norco

Public Safety will all be P25 over time and Private Business and Ambulances will go DMR or NXDN as time passes. It's all about money and the cost to upgrade the backbone of their infrastructure.
