I started picking up the new MTA-PD 700 MHz system while spending some time on Connecticut south shore today, right across from Oyster Bay. Signal strength is not the greatest but Unitrunker was able to get a good decode. No affiliations or voice traffic heard.

According to CAPRAD this should be Zone 1 - Nassau County simulcast.
Interestingly the system ID is just "one up" from the METRO 25 system.

System Type: P25
System ID: 26E
WACN: 91FE8
RFSS 25
Site 4
770.94375 (Control)
770.20625 (Alt Control)
773.54375 (Alt Control)
773.81875 (Alt Control)
774.28125 (Alt Control)

Nice find, I'll get this going in the database tonight.

Do me a favor and post any other info you're decoding, such as the band plan.

Yep, they have sites licensed all the way up to Port Jervis and Rhinebeck.

Zone 1 is listed as Nassau and Suffolk in CAPRAD. Obviously at this point we're not sure which physical subsites are on the air, I'm sure as locals start to check it out, we'll get a clearer picture. Note that these initial five frequencies are from the state allocation WPTZ779 blanket license, and are not licensed normally per-site.

They also have two licenses for a bunch of sites in Suffolk (WQOZ578 and WQOZ581), but no corresponding licenses in Nassau, so it remains to be seen how the system will be configured ultimately.

I was at the Nassau Suffolk line (Farmingdale) yesterday and did not receive anything either. Might be in Levittown next week and will try there also. Can anyone out in Nassau, or south shore of CT confirm the cc is still active?

Thanks

I've been searching the fcc database and haven't found any licenses for locations in nassau county.

Nor will you, since the frequencies so far are all from the State's allocation (SL), which are not licensed per-site like normal SY licenses using general allocations are. The states can essentially do whatever they like with the block of 700 MHz frequencies that were allocated to them, they need only coordinate amongst themselves to prevent interference with neighboring states.

Because they licensed frequencies from the general pool years ago, prior to working out an agreement with the state to use frequencies from the state's pool.

Frankly, a lot of this is academic, as word on the street is that all talkgroups will be encrypted on this system.

There are 96 total 12.5 kHz channels allocated to the states, but they are not contiguous. Your best bet is to just search 769 to 775 MHz in 6.25 kHz steps and see what's out there. The SysID has already been identified as 26E.

I can receive the control channel here on 770.94375, although comparatively much weaker than other NYC and Nassau systems I receive. I am using an 8-element 800mhz. yagi which has the beam fixed at NYC. Probably not strong enough at the moment to decode the system. But judging by other signals, propagation is not the best this morning, as I am not receiving NJSP system right now either and I hear them about 75% of the time.

I can now confirm this, but the site pictures I have are too large to download here. The essence of the pic is Harris SecureSync terminal attached to the base station or repeater.
