Thanks

Go to this link for a list of all marine channels/ frequencies:

http://www.marinewaypoints.com/learn/vhf.shtml

The following channels on the list are used by the Coast Guard:
9, 16, 21A, 22A, 23A, 81A, 82A, 83A.

Channel 17 is the State Police Marine Division VHF channel. Most of their transmissions are on the State Trunk System but they use the VHF channel occasionally. The tow boats also use it.

Private/recreational boaters and party boats use 68, 69, 71, & 72. I was told the party boats also use 63 and 65, not sure though.

Channel 13 is used to request a bridge opening.

If you live near the area of Sandy Hook Bay/New York Harbor the boats and tug boats use
12, 28, & 88. I've only verified the tugs on Channel 12.

That's a good question. There are also commuter ferries that take people to NYC from Atlantic Highlands, Highlands and Belford everyday also, and I wonder what channel(s) they use.

Hi Jake and all,

Here's what I have sittn' anna grinnin' on the sandy banks of the Manasquan.

0156.8000 16 Call/Distress
0156.3000 6 Intership
0156.6500 13 Bridge
0156.8500 17 State Police
0157.0500 21 USCG
0157.1000 22 USCG Liason
0157.1500 23 USCG
0157.0750 81 USCG
0157.1250 82 USCG
0157.1750 83 USCG
0345.0000 USCG Ops
0237.9000 USCG Ops
0282.0000 USCG Ops Common
0326.1500 USCG Air
0379.0500 USCG Air
0353.9000 USCG Patrol
0381.7000 USCG SAR
0381.8000 USCG SAR
0383.9000 USCG-USN Ops

Please note the NJSP Marine Division is now on the Troop C trunked system and is seldom heard on VHF anymore. The old frequency, the CG Auxiliary and a few nearby railroad channels are popular with the sport fishers out of Brooklyn if you don't mind a ton of cussin'. They clear off pretty quick when the CGA net traffic begins and the interesting thing about that is these guys are transmitting from home like a bunch of hams.

The most active USCG VHF freq would have to be Ch. 21 (157.050 MHz) You'll hear U.S. Coast Guard Sector New York; Helo's; Fixed Wing Homeland Security Patrol and Auxillary patrol boats.

Another active channel is Sector New York's ("South Repeater") 164.9125 PL 103.5 (aka LANT 13). You will hear more private conversations on this channel, but real private chats get switched over to code.

The NYC Commuter Ferries have to monitor VHF 13 and 16 by law, but they proabaly have a private freq to which they can conduct their company business.

Please do not re-awaken a 10-year-old post, especially when the info you are asking for is 2 posts above yours.
