Undisclosed urban location.
Lotsa's stuff going on today.
Events traffic going on at the Billy Graham thingy.
Most activity is on events 7 & 20.
7 seems to be perimeter.
20 seems to be escorts for the three ex-el presidentes.

During lunch I caught some rare comms on one of the USMS talkgroups. I think it was related to the activity mentioned above but not sure.

In case you have not noticed, CMPD is starting to get round antennas on the trunk lid of the cars now. They are about 3 inches round and an inch high. This is for GPS tracking. I have heard they are going to start this around the first of the year.

I 've noticed that some of the new patrol cars have as many as eight antennas on them.

I'd love to know what all they go to.

I think I can help you out on this one. One is for the Trunked Radio System, another is for the Mobile Data Terminal (MDT Computer), a third on just about all cars is for the wireless mike going to the Mobile Video Recorder (MVR). Some cars are equiped with Lojack car theft detection, that system uses 4 antennas in the shape of a square on the roof. I was in a patrol car this past weekend and it had two new antennas on the back. Both are black and about 6 inches long with an enclosed center loading coil. My guess is that they are getting rid of the longer pigtail antennas and going with the new shorter ones. Also the cars have a hidden broadcast band antenna for AM/FM just like our own private cars do. And to be technically correct, if the car has speed radar in it, there is the radar antenna in the front windshield and in the rear window also. And now they are getting the round GPS antennas as mentioned above. Hope this helps.

Yep, that is pretty much the pattern of the antennas on the cars.
It never crossed my mind that roof the antennas were for lojack.

There are quite a few Gaston county & Gastonia Police cars that have lojack setups as well. Might be a I-85 thing, as there were several agencies in SC that had lojack arrays spotted along I-85

CharMeck on Eazystream

I just set up a new BC15 to stream the Charmeck trs over Eazystream.

If anyone is interested the dns address is:

charmecktrs.no-ip.org

If you're not familiar with Eazystream you can download the client for free from Butel, audio port is 8100 and dataport is 8101.

Talkgroups are primarily south side, South/Providence, along with mutual aid/fire dispatch/NCSHP, etc. During the week while I'm at work I'll also have Westover/Steele Creek and Hickory Grove/Independence.

Scott,

It sounds great. I am sitting in my hotel in Seattle, and with the stream, I feel like I am home.

Thanks,

Bob

sounds cool..... do you have to have the easystream client to listen or can you use winamp?

You have to use Butel's client software which though it's free it does add a step. I'd prefer something using Media Player for example but I don't know another simple way to include text tags with the audio. I really like getting the text tags along with the audio.

Does anyone have an updated list of talkgroups? There's quite a few that I've come across that aren't listed in the database.

The database is pretty accurate, can you give us some examples?

I Find it to be very accurate. But I will share with the group a list of TG's that I have heard active from time to time that are not in the d/b. Perhaps someone can shed some light to better identify them and / or submit for inclusion in the d/b.

3248 - Likely associated with new Justice Center (sheriff)
3280 - Same as 3248
3632 - Units 101 & 102; refer to Sargent notification
4080 - light activity; no idea
4720 - Directing traffic around contruction; Lt Rail or Public Works Roads.
4752 - light activity; no idea; contiguious with TG 4720
5744 & 5776 - light activity; likely school maintenance
7792 - light activity; no idea; proximity to Refuse TG's
11440 - Dispatcher conversing with Unit 40
11536 - light activity; getting cook out area ready (after an event)
11824 & 11856 - Very likely new TG's for Light Rail "operations"; Control to unit 501;
- Sounds like actual equipment ops vs rail maint/const
16208 - Apparent PD (CMPD?) posssibly accident investigation?
16336 - Apparent "event" / "escort". Handed off from this TG to Waxhaw.
27056 - In the d/b as unknown. Suspect this is CATS ch 2 for TG 27024.
27600 - one transmission; no idea

28272 - probably Water/Sewer
28304 - also probably water/sewer; units 211 & 212.
28048, 28080, 28176 & 28208 - more with light activty that are prob water/sewer

32688 - Light activity; no idea
33136 - BofA units to posts ME6 & ME7; Metro Security?

20336 - Refer to bringing cameras; this TG is contiguous with the Bomb Squad TG

14576 - heard surveillance & a suspect take down. This TG is contiguous with the Gang Squad.
