Ok guys, here's part two of the shack contest.

I have saved all the shack photos, and I'm going to add them here. I will post the picture, and the owner of the shack. Check em all out, and vote for your favorite shack!

If there's any I missed, please PM me and let me know.

I will add, the poll will be closed two weeks from today. That should give you guys plenty of time to get your vote in.

I'll mention again, the WINNER of the contest will recieve a single scanner stand from Ron, The Scanner Stand Man! Without further adue, here are the contenders!

I'm not a moderator, so I do not have that ability. :)

If a moderator see's that it should, then by all means, glue it!

It would have mine... His shack is pretty tight to have older model scanners in it.. I like his layout as well..

Not saying there's not some pimp layouts here now, but I just personally like the way his is.

Al Stern's shack has been an inspiration for my own for years. I have seen his on several generation's photos and always appreciated the neatness and amount of equipment he has.

I too used to have multiple Pro2005/6 radios but I had to get away from them as they interfered with each other pretty seriously in my favorite band (VHF High). The local oscillator would be picked up on multiple freqs on nearby Pro2006 series radios. At one time I had 3 2004's, 2 2005's and 4 2006's in my shack (and a 2005 in the car) but I had so many local freqs locked out due to interference I had to move on. I was able to dedicate a radio to Low Band and another to UHF, with a third to Aviiation but then I had a bunch of other $400 radios pretty much limited to single channel monitors.

When I started getting BC780's and later 785's, 796's, BC15's and 996's I had none of these interference issues. I either got lucky and the oscillators ran at freqs outside my bands of interest or maybe it was the metal cases that reduced or eliminated the issue. Nowadays I can listen to multiple radios and not have any interference between them.

The one radio I do have a problem with is my Kenwood TM-D700 in the van. On some freqs (in the 2M band) it throws spurs out that occasionally lock-up a scanner. Often the spur is between normal scanner channels and wouldn't be a problem, but sometimes I have to lock out a scanner channel.

As far as some of the other contestants in this thing, I do really like vkkev's shack. Those marble (?) counter tops are sharp! I like the symmetrical aspects of the hutch as well.

I also like zguy1243's shack and the way he mounted the monitors. I am looking into mounting my monitors on elbow mounts, especially if the XYL lets me get the second 30" Cinema Display I am currently begging her for. I tried to convince her that I spent extra money on the video card in my Mac, so I should be able to use that investment, but she hasn't fallen for that. Good Looks and Charm hasn't worked either, probably since I don't have either.

Johny's shack has a certain charm as well, kind of a "Substance over form" thing going on over there.

LOL! Tell her that you can fit more pictures of her on your desktop with more monitors!:p:lol:

Where could you put one, anyway?

OOh! I LIKE that! It just might work! Maybe if I promise to make her picture my desktop background.....

I would likely replace the 23 inch Cinema Display with the new 30 inch, thus having the 2 30's side by side. I would then use the 23 inch display on the PC, replacing the black Kogi I have there now.

N9JIG is the winner!!

Awesome contest guys...

I'd like to personally thank each member who entered the shack contest. For awhile, I was beginning to think it would be a flop, but I was really pleased with the turnout. I was also very pleased with how smoothly the shack contest went. Thanks to the moderators for thier assistance, and thanks to Lindsay for allowing the shack contest. But, it couldn't have been pulled off without YOU. The voters, and the members who entered. So my hat's off to you guys.

N9JIG, congratulations sir, on a shack well done! You might want to PM tonsoffun, Ron, the scanner stand man, as I think he may have a little something for you.. ;)

Congratulations to the other entries as well. Although you may not have won, you can see now that there are folks who still like your shack, by the votes you have recieved.

So Lou, or any moderator, please shut this one down. Thanks for participating in my contest. Next time, I may enter myself, and give you guys a run for you money.. ;)
