Thank you for your logs; I find them extremely interesting. The weather here in West PA has not been conducive to low band. It is one of my favorite bands, such a waste of good bandspace to see the users migrate to the super whiz bang systems. I need to make a simple dipole and get in on the fun. Keep them coming!

I too enjoy monitoring VHF low band skip from my location in Northeast Ohio. I know there are propogation charts out there, but any idea when conditions with be right to hear skip from Ohio?

That would be Bellevue Ne.Vol Fire Dept, in the very city I live in! The repeater is located 1/2 mile from me. BVFD simulcasts the 800mhz fire traffic over 33.8600.

Here is a pic of the repeater from my cellphone not the greatest quality, but look to the right above KFC.

The tower is owned by the City of Bellevue. Sarpy County Sheriff, Verizon, Alltel, Cricket and AT&T wireless are also tenants on the tower.

That's interesting - thanks! Any idea why they use carrier squelch?
