All,

Some how the existing thread was unintentionally deleted. I'm attempting to recover the posts and will post them here. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please bare with me.

Edit:

I am not exactly sure how or why the thread was deleted. I've contacted our forums manager, but I don't think it can be recovered. It certainly wasn't intentional. It appears Google Cache only has from 7-12-11 on. I posted a few weeks below. If you all have from the 12th on and could re-post them that would be great. The rest are available via a Google search. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience.

Please post all daily logs here, versus creating a new thread. Thanks :)

Thanks

What is SNOTEL ?

NRCS National Water and Climate Center | SNOTEL Data & Products

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) installs, operates, and maintains an extensive, automated system to collect snowpack and related climatic data in the Western United States called SNOTEL (for SNOwpack TELemetry). The system evolved from NRCS's Congressional mandate in the mid-1930's "to measure snowpack in the mountains of the West and forecast the water supply

29.6200 146.2 I heard this one this morning too.. I checked around and there is a repeater in Manhatten, NY on this frequency/tone so most likely this is what it is.

http://www.hamrepeater.net/kq2h/

THE 10-METER REPEATER TRANSMITTER IS LOCATED IN THE CATSKILL MOUNTAINS OF NY.

TRANSMIT FREQ = 29.620

RECEIVE FREQ = 29.520

RX PL = 146.2(NYC), 192.8(ORANGE COUNTY), NO PL IN UPSTATE.

^That's a good catch too! Hearing the domestic repeater on 29.790 and the AM taxis on 29.895...this is the first time I've ever heard anything in the 29.70 to 30.00 MHz range. Looks like the band was open to both the north and south of me. I've heard the 30.020 MHz paging before and its apparently of Canadian origin. I imagine the 30.220 MHz paging I heard is as well. The various 26 and 27 MHz freeband stuff was coming from all directions it seemed. I've heard Canadians using AM on 27.575 before and 26.915 is a pretty active freeband CB frequency from the Southern U.S.

Good logs everybody! Keep it up! :)
