Can't say I blame him. What's the point of having a license when people just violate it willy-nilly anyway?

Glad I got in on it while the getting was good. This is why the DSDplus guy was smart and didn't release source code, despite all sorts of upset folks in here who wanted him to and damn near demanded it - remember that?

See, this is the thanks people seem to get for creating things for the radio community anymore. Look at how many people here seem to want UPMan's head on a platter just because the new x36 scanners were released with some unforeseen issues. I'm surprised Rick's still putting out Unitrunker as I'm sure he gets a ton of nonsense for his hard work too. Lindsay's even had a few blowouts with members over this website. This is just to name a few - I'm certain there are others whose bane of their existance has become the few yet overly vocal problem children these projects seem to attract.

No one cares that the software or data or whatever else is being provided for free, they still expect immediate support and hand holding and in the case of open source projects like SDR#, they want to take someone else's hard work and goober it all up with their own poorly cobbled code and when the author says no they raise a big huge stink. I'd be "gone fishing" too if I were Youssef. How hard of a concept is it to grasp that SDR# was written by him and therefore HE owns it and can do with it whatever he likes? Hell, if I were him I'd charge $10 for it so at least he has some pocket money for putting up with all the BS. I'd pay $10 for SDR# in a heartbeat - it's a great program and works extremely well. Just something for Youssef to consider should he ever contemplate switching over to the "dark side" (programming for money instead of for free/grief). You'll still have all the problem children but the extra money will help you buy some good booze for when you're done dealing with the idiots for the day.

Simple fact,,SDR# is only popular because we use it.We made if famous and there are alot of people who have also put time in.

The creator can throw a hissy fit.let him walk away,Life will go on and he'll be replaced in a flash.Dont give things away for free then throw a fit when your app gets modded. Its 2014...Im pretty sure we all know how the internet works at this point.Ask all the movie studios and music labels about copyright and licensing..Its a losing battle.

If hes mad because of this that or the other,The wrong thing to do is crash the whole community..I mean really,,Shutting down the yahoo group..

Mr Youssef needs to get his lil temper under control.and Not punish the whole for the actions of the single,or very few..He dose not like how the internet acts, maybe he should step back, and decide if he's really cut out to be part of Our community.

Just my thoughts,,Im sure ill get burned for em!..But thats ok,,Im a big boy and I can take it...

Sad to see such things happen but honestly, humanity is just full of scumbuckets overall, someone always looking not to help first and foremost or share but to rip off others and take advantage of things, looking for ways to "get one over" on anyone they can, or basically just stealing every chance they get.

Youssef is most certainly not one of those people, thankfully, and neither are many many others (Rick/Unitrunker, Paul/UPMan, etc).

He's got every right to pull it and vanish like a fart in the wind if he so chooses and we would all be sorry for it happening (save for the scumbuckets, of course). I'm glad he's still "around" and keeping a clear head and potentially just taking a breather to regroup and see where to go next.

I'm on the list for Airspy and when it's available if I can afford it at the time I'll certainly buy one, and SDR# is still my go-to SDR app of choice.

So good luck, Youssef, and thank you for sharing SDR# with the rest of us.

As for the scumbuckets out there, well, you know who you are I suppose.

Disclaimer: these are my opinions on the situation, and nothing more. Even in spite of GPL/open source "licensing" I still say whoever created the code first owns it, forever, and it's not even a right that can be dismissed or assigned to someone else where all claims for the original owner are ignored.

Sometimes things are just wrong, period.

And to add,

Airspy,,,Im also on the list,,for a while now,,I too will get one when available..

However,,One could see it like this..

SDR# was his way to break into the scene,,its free...He is getting his name out there-Free advertising and exposure to his demographic-US...

Airspy will be his first to market product,,He only got us to his site Via SDR#...

Hes gonna make us pay,75-100-125-150 for the AirSpy..OK..Fair enough..

Im a dog handler,I started by training people to train their dogs.some 20 yrs ago. When I first started I assisted people for no charge, for almost 2 years,so I could get the skills and time(and word of mouth,,i.e. exposure to my demographic) in to do it correctly,to send people home with their animals with confidence that they were ready to do the job they now pay me to teach them to do..

Early off a couple people took the training I helped them learn and started there own programs, and Yep took some of my customers away,One messed up a couple dogs and I had to go deprogram them and retrain..It made me mad..But I didnt throw a fit and start an argument with the no brain twits that fouled the stew..

Now I Breed,Train,Handle and make Good money..Very good money..

they are not the same, but in business theory I think they are.I suppose I could just be a jacka$$ blowing smoke though.

I just read whats on the site. I cannot believe someone would use the code for their own gain until I clicked on the kickstarter link. Unbelieveable.

Let's see here...

It's SDR# 1.0.0.1202. Check.

It's hosted on SDRSharp.com. Check.

Pretty sure it's the lastest version of SDR#. Check.

Any questions?

The latest version is 1222, which is running fine for me as I type this. Looking forward to the future of this software in conjunction with Airspy use.

It says the new version is 1223 but after downloading it is showing as 1222.

Anyone notice this?

Version 1232 has display problems.

Data from frequency manager is corrupting the 'Spectrum Analyzer' segment of the display.
