I just received a message via email that says SCHP is implementing their "Essential Operations Plan" effective today 1800hrs. Other users of Palmetto 800 (county, local and state agencies) are asked to reduce routine radio traffic to ensure critical traffic is passed.
Should be for some interesting listening over the next 24 hours.
I'd recommend listening out for activity on the SC DOT Palmetto 800 talkgroups, I have heard some sporadic use of those over the last several weeks. I don't expect they will be used as primary communication, but they might be used for statewide or regional communication among supervisors, for example.
Other observations regarding this event are welcome.
