I will be spending the next couple of weeks in Charleston. After looking around the RR DB, I see that there are several systems in the area including the following:

-Charleston City Public Safety
-Charleston County Public Safety
-Palmetto (Project 25)
-Palmetto 800

Are they all active? Do they all carry their respective police/fire radio traffic and is the DB correct?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe-Almost all Charleston County traffic is carried on the Palmetto P25 digital system. The old city system still has city buses and some public works on it but no public safety. I don't believe the county system has anything on it.

I have updated the Charleston Co. conventional page to reflect this.

Let us know what other questions you have.

Enjoy your time in the Low Country.

I should add that state agencies (highway patrol, etc) as well as some other local agencies (MUSC hospital, medical helicopters) operate on the statewide Palmetto 800 system. You'll want to program it in for your travel through the state. Brian made this great wiki page to help with the programming.
