"Indian Land" is the name of the community in the northern end of Lancaster County, S.C. The area is bordered by York County in S.C., as well as Mecklenberg County and Union County in N.C.
Currently, Lancaster County uses conventional VHF channels for most of their law enforcement, fire and ems voice communications. There is also limited county agency access of the state's Palmetto 800 trunked system, and a conventional 800 MHz repeater licensed to Lancaster County.
The county Sheriff in Lancaster County oversees the county communications system and public safety dispatching. During the past year, the Sheriff and other officials have called for replacing the current communications system with a trunked system, and the county council is studying the funding of a new radio system.
