Sstv
A lot of folks use MMSSTV, there are others I imagine:

Other than that, just a scanner or VHF rig, helps to have an outside antenna, but not mandatory.

PS The ISS has gone over to Packet, you can check ISS Fanclub or AMSAT sites for updates!

You can find other software, including a popular package for Macs, linked here...

Yes the 2054 will work fine. The trick is to get a clean connection from the scanner to the soundcard without getting a lot of junk from the PC in the way. Short and sweet, using shielded audio cable, is the way to go.
Getting the soundcard to work does take some doing, however. This wiki article will give you some hints and how to get around some common issues (anything in blue or underlined is a link)

They have been on 145.800, but they have gone over to 9600 baud packet on 145.825. There hasn't been any SSTV for a few days now.

The freq is 145.8 for voice/sstv, 145.825 for packet.
Read the links in the wiki article I supplied in message 3 for more. There are several ISS related links there

One good way to keep up with what's going on is the ISS fanclub site at http://www.issfanclub.com/
Over on the right side is a status listing that's usually pretty up to date, it's sent in by listeners around the world. Also check http://ariss-sstv.blogspot.com/ There is a list of links there that can be helpful down on the right side of the page, especially the SAREX reflector.
