So yesterday, i was out on Lake anna fishing, And My radio turned to the ISS freq. I was so excited, I was finally getting to here The space station on my 106

But it wasnt Nasa communications

Instead , It sounded like a bunch of people throwing out there callsigns , and then saying thank you

It sounds like the ISS was in repeater mode. That allows hams to use the ISS station to contact other hams.

Talking Iss

You may even have heard me :-) - When the astros are not using it, they sometimes leave it in a voice-repeater state wherein we frantically (Grin) call in with our call and a location quandrant (like em96) and another ham responds with his quadrant and call -YES it IS fast because the ability to hear and transmit through the ISS is VERY short as it passes overhead. ;-)
Take a look at n2yo.com and issfanclub.com for times!

Go to Configuration - Select from map, Choose your location on the map, then your time zone at the bottom of the map, hit ok

then go to sattelites - then radio ameature sattelites, it well tell you what time its passing over the area you chose.
