there are still emails in clear that can be received using inmarsat decoder (Inmarsat std-C decoder) or code300-32 v3.05 or above

Equipment is a receiver able to go up to 1550 MHz, an helical or small dish with helical feed for instance (mine is 1m (3ft)) and a good preamp (minikits)

Best

Which decoder are you talking about? The "inmarsat decoder" page just lists a demo version and they keep saying that a full version will be available soon but nothing has been released.

Default Inmarsat C decoder

How can I get ahold of "r00ts"?

I have the code 300, and have used it to decode some traffic, but all I could get were messages to truckers. No ships at sea. There were only 2 data streams that worked. No others would decode. I was aimed at the satellite that hangs over the pacific. I am also barely within the footprint of the atlantic satellite, but why bother if that's all I could get.

After much effort, all I got were dispatches to truckers. I got discouraged and broke the setup down until something better came out.

So I am very interested. What do I need to do ?

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. You have me excited about it.

I just want to buy the thing. So I will try to contact him.

I also decoded TDM with the Code 300, but it was really boring and useless.

Thumbs up Inmarsatdecoder.com full version

Hi all,

Has you've read from Hermann-s, the full ver of this decoder is available. I've also bought it (price around 100euro with electronic delivery) and can confirm that it does in fact decode all of the current inmarsat-C frame types, it parses documents like pdf, xls, doc etc, and logs messages by their mobile earth station ID if you so wish. The decoder is also very good with low level signals, and can perfectly decode signals that you'll barely be able to copy in the speaker. This may mean that its possible to use 'crappy' preamps like the satellite TV in line amplifiers, coupled to a helix antenna and small dish. With the current strength of inmarsat downlinks, nothing more than a wet bit of string is really needed for an antenna.

I hope this info is useful, as hermann-s also mentioned, you can also visit the hearsat.org IRC chat room if u want to know more about it from users etc. Note: obviously you should check to make sure receiving this stuff isn't illegal where you live...

regards,

Paul
