Don't use the web player. Use iTunes or Windows Media Player instead.

There's also Winamp and Real Player.

Eh, I don't think so. I'm using Firefox 3.5 and listening to a feed with the web player right now and everything is working just fine, and has in the past, too. Certainly not "closing down" Firefox.

How long do I have to wait for Firefox to close down? I'm using it to monitor my feed and have used it many times in the past to listen to various feeds.

I Have also noticed,as mentioned in previous posts, that when and if Firefox goes to sleep or standby the media player for scanner feeds will quit and firefox will "close unexpectedly" A lot of times I will then just use IE even though I don't like it.

I like Winamp best. Only works on a PC with windows.
I wrote up a suggested setting here:
Winamp suggested settings

If Mac, then use iTunes.
