Default multiple soundcards

they have to be of different make and model with different drivers. So you can't go out and buy 2 of the same and install or they won't work. Once you install the second one, if you have onboard sound that will diasble itself automatically.

Default Sound Cards

If you computer has the HP and the slots you can run as many feeds as you so desire. I have a computer running 4 feeds off one computer. Now where one user said they all have to be different cards is just not true. I have 4 of the same cards running all using line in, works just fine. Configuration is a pain cause you need to figure out what card is for what scanner.

This isn't entirely true, although it likely makes things easier. I've got a PC running with 2 Sound Blaster Live Gold cards in it (both cards are identical). You just need to be sure to manually assign different resources to the 2nd card (IRQ, base address etc etc). Things will work just fine after that. I use one card to feed an online stream, and the 2nd card to feed Trunk88.

I purchased a M-Audio card. it allows me to stream 4 scanners from the same card. you can also add multiple M-Audio cards (I forget the max amount).

so my current PC has 5 possible scanner streams. 4 inputs on the M-Audio card, plus the on board audio card (I had to go into the BIOS and enable it once I added the PCI Card)
