Default Feed computer audio problem...

I am setting up my feed (Clark County WA) on a dedicated computer and have an audio problem. I use ScannerCast to send audio to RR. The new feed computer is a Dell Optiplex SX260 running XP Pro. I can hear the feed fine locally on this pc, but when I try to listen online from my main computer, all I hear is the initial audio thump and no streaming content. It sounds like it's trying to get through, but never makes it. The audio from the scanner goes into the line input on the feed computer's onboard sound card. Any ideas?

I had to put the feed back on my main pc till I get this fixed.

Default Fixed...

It seemed that the Line Input record level was set all the way down. I don't know how I overlooked something so simple. Everything is working as expected with the new feed computer.

YAY! Thank goodness that worked, Grant. You really had me stumped!

I knew it would be too easy to think of. BTW, I couldn't get the text tags to work. I am using a BCT15. I got some error, but forgot what it said. When I went into the feed computer with remote desktop, ScannerCast would not show the correct sound card in the drop down. I had to hook up a mouse and kb directly to be able to change it back correctly.

Yup! Annoying and unexpected, isn't it. That's what happens when using Windows Remote Desktop with the default (remote desktop) parameters. You want to set remote desktop (when you connect) to "leave sound at remote computer"... We talked about this some in the other ScannerCast thread here...

Hope that helps,

Peter

Or you can just dump windows remote desktop and use LOGMEIN.COM which works very well. It's free, and you don't have to have client software of any computer, be it mac, linux, or windows based, you'd always have a way to get logged into your remote machine provided the other end has internet and not blocking the logmein ports.

I use to use VNC but lost my license from a hard drive crash and couldn't get support for it so I dumped VNC and just started using logmein and it's done everything I've needed it to do. I run my server on an old dell notebook with logmein to access it from any pc in the house or from work or from anywhere and it works good. No issues with sending text tags to the feed with scannercast.

I tried LogMeIn, but doesn't seem to have full screen view. They sent me an email saying it was not free anymore. It seems I was on a trial.

I couldn't get the tags working with my BCT15. Maybe there's something different from the BCD996 series. So, I just put ScannerCast back to audio only.
