Keep in mind NFPA standards for fire service communications. If you use a private carrier for dispatch and messages are not received timely on an incident where someone sues, it could bcome quite an issue in court. Just my .02 worth...

What would the legal issue be if you used it as a backup system? There is a company in west TN that
sales a system that has a radio hooked up to a computer and when a two tone alert is sent it will
send a mms to your phone. We use the two tone as our main alert but we are in a mountains area
where the vhf don't reach all the time but the phone might reaches.

Anyone done this before, or know how to do it?

Thanks,

you have to call your local dispatch center and give them your name number and fire dept your in and they can send the calls to your phone via text

Default Fire Page to cell phone

Page2Phone does this for any Fire / EMS agency. They also record your entire call and allow you to play it back from the web at any time and allow you to send messages to your users at any time. It does cost money but they are willing to work with smaller companies and give discounts because the owner is from a small volunteer fire company and understands budgets are tight.
