I believe I am having issues with 58 also.
Went from 56 to 58, and the program keeps jumping around on the tone frequency on dead silence. Also when I unplugged the cable from the scanner, the program immediately picks up 1 page every second it seems. I am running Windows XP and using a USB sound card if it matters.
I downgraded to 57, and everything works like normal. Only thing changed is the main exe file.

I hope to give V58 a test this weekend Andy and will report my findings.

Thanks, appreciate all of the testing from everyone.

At this point I'm not sure what the issue might be with v58, the changes from v57 to v58 should be really pretty minor with respect to the tone detection algorithm. I have it working on three different computers running three different OS's with three different sound cards. I also tried changing my Btonelength parameter to .6 but it was still picking up pages (although it got messed up with certain stacked tone combinations).

I'd recommend setting Btonelength to the actual length of the Btone or even .2 seconds longer. That seems to give the best results during stacked pages.

Keep the feedback coming.

Andy

I am just not sure what is going on with v58 on my setup. I went back and started with clean configs from the v58 zip. I added a few tones to tones.cfg and only added my email setup to the config.cfg. I am still not catching tones on v58. There must be something that I am overlooking.

Adding to the discussion.... Yeah, 58 not working here. Backing up a little, been running 55c, rock solid even ruining XPe on a thin client. Rock solid. Started using 57 and experienced some issues both Vista and XPe. It will find the tones ok and then it throws an error "IndexError: list index out of range" right in the midst of listing my tones in the tone file. It happens randomly. This example happened during stacked tones. The first tone-out functioned properly but the second didn't. Any idea what it doesn't like on line 587? It finds the tone set ok but does not record. I moved confg and tone files directly over form 55c.

having a bit of an issue with the program picking up 2 of the 3 stations pager tones

all 3 stations tones come off the same tower. my station i get no problems at all picks it up and it does its thing.
the other 2 stations however it is not picking them up. i tried changing the b tone length for those 2 stations from 3 down to 2 and the one station did a pager test today and it did not pick it up.
i am running V56 on my desktop for all the stations. I don't want to mess with it since it is working well for my station and we haven't rolled it out to the other stations yet until we get it working for their tones.
i did have and issue previously where i wasn't getting anything at all from any of the stations and that was traced back to the volume on the scanner not being high enough.
has anyone run into this and how did you resolve it.

Can you copy the contents of your tones.cfg file into a forum post so thar we can see how you have that set up? It sounds like it should be a real simple fix.

Default Tones Sending

Is anyone having an issue with the program sending a recording for a tone when a tone has not gone off? I have set up multiple tones for my department, such as station tones, and recall/Duty squad/Box tones. For the past few days, the program has sent various recall/Duty squad tones to my Chief and Deputy in the middle of the night when in reality, it was just a recording of department activity. It seems to be recording department activity when there is no tone present, but thinks there is a tone. It mainly records random radio traffic for the Duty squad and Box tones, but does for station 1 tone - just not as frequent. I'm not sure how to fix it and was looking for some help if possible. Here are my tone settings below. Thanks again!

Set your Btonedebounce value to 2 or 3 and i would bet your chief will be a happier sleeper.

For stations 2 and 3 i put the Btonelength to 2 after i didnt get anything with it set to 3
My station is station 1 and everything comes through no problem whether it be a pager test or an actual call.
Also all 3 stations tones come off the same tower which is less than 1 km from my house

hope this gives the info needed to help troubleshoot this issue

thanks

A couple things to try:

1. Where are the brackets around Tone 1 tone 2, etc.? The correct format is [Tone1] for each of these, no space between Tone and 1 either. Use this format for each tone set.

2. Use the same seven lines beneath the [ToneX] that you used in Tone 1. Set each of the Btonelength's to 2 and each Btonedebounce to 2.

Then give it a try.

I think everything is working fine now with v58. It turned out to be my setup (as expected), I had a very low tone tolerance set in my config.cfg. The default is 2%, but I had mine dialed down to 0.5%. There seems to be a slight difference in the decoding of tone frequencies between v56 and v58. v56 sees my B Tone as 1285, but v58 sees it as 1278, thus outside of my configured tone tolerance.

I bumped my tone tolerance to 1%, and everything has been looking good.

Something is messed up with your config.cfg file, probably the email password. Did you manually edit the config.cfg file or did you change the settings through the program's "Edit Config Info" menu?

I will eventually get previous versions posted on the program page. If you're looking for source files, shoot me an email and let me know what you need.

I was getting that IndexError: list index out of range error with v57 occasionally also. I think I fixed it in v58...what's the issue you're having with v58?
