Default Noise Gate Software

Does anyone know of or use free noise gate software with their feeds? I have a background hum going on that I'm not convinced is from a ground loop. I'm thinking an easier way to get rid of that noise is to put a real time noise gate on my PC.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this?

Out of curiosity, what model scanner are you using for your feed? I've noticed that handhelds tend to introduce noise when using the AC adapter.

Could be, my 346XT can be noisy when it's on AC. Have you tried running it on just the batteries without the AC adapter plugged in? See if that quiets it down any.

I use VSTHost with some plugins and it can remove any hums. If it is just a hum, you can try streaming with RadioFeed since the latest build has notch filters which can eliminate this also. But back to VSTHost...you can filter, compress , limit, and also use a actual gate that will mute all audio below a certain threshold.
