I would like to help out and stream a new local p25 phase 2 system in my area. However, it seems that the county has gone through great pains to keep the general public from monitoring their radio traffic. With the exception of encrypting the traffic, which would definitely put the kabish to listening entirely. My question is, if the system is not encrypted can it be legal streamed, the FCC you can't defulge or publish anything you receive. Also you can't be compensated. I just want to know how much of an issue I can expect if I stream this new p25 p2 system. Ofcourse, if feeds were to pop up then they might just encrypt.

More like "The same legal question about streaming asked again". As stated so well in this thread (http://forums.radioreference.com/ca...stream-scanner-over-internet.html#post1352015)

One has to wonder how many EFFING times this is going to be brought up...it is covered again and again and again here ad nauseum.

Read the prior threads on this topic for some great discussion on this topic (including "RadioReference's position on the matter") and you'll find your answer.

If its in the clear then its fair game. If its encrypted and you break the encryption and broadcast it then I think its illegal.

Real legal questions are best left for attorneys. You'll get alot of opinions here and many with vary wildly.

Look at it from the other side

Legal aspects are one thing, practicality is another. Consider this. Your biggest concern is for the safety of your employees that use your radio system. You'd like to keep communication in the open, but have invested in the technology where all you need to do is throw a switch and everything goes private. Then you find anyone with an app can listen to you. What would you do?

I agree with gmclam. I'm intentionally not streaming my feeds as I very much believe streams lead to encryption.
