Question bad sysytem

Good Morning, If this is the wrong place to ask the following I am very sorry. The company I work for has LTR System 8 channels in use with 22 talkgroups. Talk group A is always getting bleed over from another talk group, and another site close to our location. The main control tac for group A is a console for also monitoring the other groups. The repeater gets hot and we have to chage to the secondary channel causing extra traffic on the secondary channel. The radios being used are Motrola MTXB250-LS.
We have been given the ok to buy new smaller (pocket size) radios to solve this problem. The guy in charge of this project is not talking to anyone but the company TECHs, whom I am of the opinion haven't fixed this problem in the last 5 years, why all of a sudden is a new radio going to solve the problem.
While I will have nothing to gain by obtaining good information, I have to put up with the present radio system, which at times is dangerous to the personnel in group A. Any suggestions you can give as to what I may be able to put my .02 cents worth into this project is greatly appreciated. If you would rather reply to my e-mail that's ok as I am listed
