Default Portable XTS3000 Flash Question

I have been told by more then one person that Flashing a XTS-3000 with the 9600 Baud control channel flash will cause the 3600 Baud function of the radio not to work??

I was always under the acumption that 9600 would be backward compatabile with 3600 Baud control channels.

Anyone have this flash? does the 3600 Baud still work?

Flash Code: Q361/G361 Digital APCO-25 IMBE Trunking (9600kb Control)

That is correct, it's either one or the other.

There is a Host Code that will do both with the right Flashcode. I've seen it work. This is how the state of Colorado was able to upgrade from 3600 to 9600. They had the radios upgraded and then made the switch (at the same time) to a new zone that was set up for 9600.

Without that capability, it would not be possible to upgrade a system that has a large number of XTS 3Ks without taking an outage (which public safety can't do).

Apparently with this "special" Host Code you lose some features in the radio. One of them is the Private Call capability. This is because of a memory limitation in the radio. Newer radios don't have this problem.

I don't know what the Host version number is, but it does exist. Mot. may only give it to people that need to upgrade from 3600 to 9600.
