Default XTS2500 Problems

I posted this originally unter Motorola systems

I have several of these new radios that I'm trying to program. I have a type II Smartnet ASTRO system. I can't for the life of me get these radios to key up on my system. Under the radio information window it says smartzone under System Package. Is this potentially my problem? I have double and triple checked my trunking fields, including system key, control channel frequency, a valid system user ID...etc..... I can't seem to find what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help??????

There have been some recent radios sent out by Moto. with the incorrect setting on the ISW. My techs had some issues with 3 brand new Spectra's and called tech support after going thru all the stuff that you did.

Probably wouldn't hurt to call them and ask as we have a 1/2 dozen new xts2500's on a smartnet system and they worked 1st time out of the box.

Aaron,

Ithink the information in the "Radio Information" field is not the problem when looking at the information you have presented. I went back and checked some of the codeplugs that I have programmed when putting the cities on our system and they did not present the same problems (although the "System Package" field on my codeplug says SMARTZone as well). I do remember having the following problem. IF I remember correctly (I have slept since then though), the problem was in the "Trunking System" box; check the "Coverage Type" box and ensure the field is set to "Disabled" and not "SmartZone".

If that does not fix the problem, call me Monday. I would be happy to come Lockahart and program it with one of the programs I have saved. We should have no problems getting into our system from your location. This would at least verify that it is not a sofware related issue. Let me know, I have a lite schedule.

You have sucj a new radio I would recommend going straight to the source. Call Motorola tech support, for what those radios cost theyshould have no problem giving you the info you need to get them working properly.
