Default Motorola RB radios

Has anyone actually purchased a RB version of the XTS/XTL yet ?

Rebanded versions of these radios cannot be purchased, and they are only distributed as a "trade" for a non-rebandable radio.

In a nutshell, they are the standard XTS and XTL series radio with a "dumbed down" version of software so that they will meet the "comparable features" requirement (but not exceed that requirement) per rebanding principles. A purchasable software upgrade to the radios will bring them up to full-featured XTS and XTL series radios.

I'm well aware of that.

I'm curious if any have actually been manufactured. Of our 15,000 radios currently in service, about 1/3 will have to be replaced. My Moneyrola rep claims they are shipping the radios. My inside source in the product group, says the plan is to never ship one, and just upsell.

BS detector set

LOL, well that could have been a "plan", but there are a lot of system owners who don't have any money available for upgrades.

After all the stink made, they better have the software load and model number stickers ready.

I would imagine that there will be a lot of upselling, but keep in mind that the hardware is physically the same. The only difference will be that before shipment they will stick the "dumbed down" software in it instead of the full feature software.

If you want to get right down to it, they're shipping the RB radios today, because they're 100% XTL and XTS series radio hardware!

The lack of a response like "We've got them !" says much

True.

I wouldn't look to find anyone with the radios that have the RB flash in them until someone gets a NEXTEL contract through, though
