Default New Version slow

Is this new version of RR slower to anyone else? I know on my end it takes about 10 seconds or more to load and I'm on broadband. I thought I would check and see if it's just me.

Default Okay Here

Steve,
It's at least as fast for me, and I'm on Comcast Waukegan.

Only 10 seconds? It took 1 minute 5 seconds to open the site just now, then another 43 seconds to open this thread. I have a dial-up connection.
I reported this long delay the first day the new site started and it fell on deaf ears. No, one guy told me to clean out my cookies.
Since the dozens of other sites I use daily are fine, I'm reluctant to do that since it will mean I have to log on to all those sites again.

Certainly is, even a mouseover takes a long time.

Works great here in Central NC.
Pages load quickly.
Granted I am pretty much always on a broadband
connection between work & home.

While it may or may not help, it is possible to delete just cookies related to the radioreference domain. How this is done depends on your OS and browser.

I would imagine clearing the browser cache may help more. I may be slow the first time after, but should speed up on subsequent loads.

Works fine for me on my broadband using google chrome.

pretty slow on my blackberry thru verizon.

I believe that it has to do with your computer / browser setup.

on an older computer it doesnt matter how fast the internet connection is. Imagine trying to drink water from a fire hose. Theres tons of water coming at you but you're still only gonna get a mouthful either way.

Default It is slower for my on broadband

I've all but stopped using my NT4 machine to come here mostly due to javascript issues.

I've noticed on my XP Pro machine that when I click on a thread that it takes longer to load than it used to. It is tough to quantify the actual time or slowness, but it is certainly a noticeable delay whereas it did not used to be.

I find the Database loads quicker than before but yes, a forum thread may have a lag for a few seconds then "pop" it appears.

I have dsl and it is slower for me too.

I think they're getting too many threads that are not radio or scanner related.

They may have to rename it "radiorefrenceandotherstuff.com"

I'm not trying to be critical, just pointing out the facts.

As a radio reference site it is top of the line.

I'm on cable broadband and I have noticed that the forum pages load much slower. I'm also using XP Pro with IE6 and other sites I regularly visit are no slower, only this one. I've been a little hesitant about saying anything, too. Since this is "bigger and better" I was thinking it was my problem and I did clear my cache and cookies. Didn't help.

The forums are slightly slower on my end but the database is much quicker. Using Firefox 3.0.7 on Comcast.

well of course the forums are gonna be slightly slower... There is alot more of them now.

try closing categories of forums that you dont read, that should reduce the size of the webpage and decrease loading times.

I'm not having any speed issues on EVDO or DSL. Works great for me. There are some design items that I don't like much with the new version but hey, it's free.

It's obvious the new format has caused this slowdown as MANY of us are reporting. It's disappointing there has been no support for our problem - not even an acknowledgement by the powers that be.
