Question RadioRefrence Database CD ~ Where?

Hello all,

I am interested in purchasing the official RadioRefrence Database CD. My problem is I have not been able to find a link or information?

Also:

* When was the last version created?
* Will I be entitled to updates or new versions?
* Is this a CD I download or is the disk sent to me?

Thanks Team! I am really enjoying the Site and joined today.

Respectfully,
Anthony

Hello,

The CD is in fact a physical Compact Disk. You may purchase it at Scanner Master - Police Scanners by Uniden Bearcat, AOR and Radio Shack. . This version was just released. New versions are released every winter and summer (or whereabouts), I believe.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

That right. We released the new version and scannermaster has it for sale now.

I'll get a link on the front page shortly with the details.

Thanks!

Default Thanks Team...

Thanks to your help I found the vendor.

The $29.95 price tag was a little high, but I was ready to go for it, that is until I saw the additional $12.95 charge to ship a single CD! That brings the total to over $40. And of course, I will be a huge percentage of the data/information on the CD I will never need.

For now I will stay with my new membership here and a few other resources I've found online.

I sincerely thank those who responded!

I'll second that! I just came back from the Post Office where I sent a CD in a plastic CD holder to a friend. It cost a whopping $.98 for postage.

Guys,

I'll contact Scanner Master and find out what options we have to fix the shipping cost issue.

Warm regards,

Lindsay

It's important to note that if you are on scannermaster.com and you the option set to "More Carriers" and then you click on the "PLEASE SELECT" menu, you'll be given USPS pricing. If you actually click on the "More Carriers" option and you select "UPS" and then go and click on "PLEASE SELECT", you'll see the higher pricing of the UPS shipping.

By default scannermaster ships it using USPS and the fee is much more reasonable. I recently bought a filter from scannermaster and noticed this at that time . I just went on their site and went through the shopping cart to verify that it acts the same way with the CD order - and it does.

So, if you're getting $12 shipping charges for the CD when you go to scannermaster, it's likely because you chose UPS shipping. Instead of selecting UPS, select the other option in that menu - which is simply "More Carriers" - Then when you choose an item under "PLEASE SELECT" you will be given the much more reasonable shipping via USPS.

You've spent 3 paragraphs getting to this point. Now can't you just type in the lower price?

Simmer down. it was in the $6.xx ballpark. I didn't post the pricing because it was pricing to my zipcode and the pricing obviously is still too high for some people to swallow. I have no problem wtih it.

Indeed, same here now. This fanboi is glad to see it. Maybe the whining will cease and people will go and order the CD and be done with it.

What? Did you not read that it's $2.57 for shipping 1st class, and you are calling it a ripoff?

Doesn't sound like they changed that, but the OP didn't check for USPS shipping as an option.

Actually, I think they did change it. The USPS option was available for me originally (before the barking started) - but it was 6.xx one day and 7.xx the next time I checked. Now it's 2.57 or whatever.

So I think the squeeking wheels got the grease. But you're right that people just didn't bother to check the option to begin with, because the option for USPS has been there all along... originally at a higher price but significantly lower than the $12 UPS the OP reports.

Well, it has been fixed on the Scannermaster site. All the shipping options are now available. Thanks Lindsay.

Default Not quite fair, Mike!

Honestly Mike,

If there were more shipping options at Scan Master I didn't see them. Too bad for that because I can only wonder how many others decided 'no sale' when they saw the total charges of $42.90? Perhaps the creators of this software wonder the same thing? My total was $42.90.

Mike, I appreciate that lots of effort goes into producing software and data bases as detailed as this so I was ready to pay the $29.95 requested. When it came to the $12.95 to ship a single CD, you can count me out because that is more than 1/3 of the cost of the software itself and yes ~ that deserves some 'whining'!

Also I think it's fair to add that I've sent a single CD for the cost of a single postage stamp and I can still do so today. {stamp prices subject to change}

Mike, I could have dropped the matter, but I posted here because I had no idea if there were other sources for this software or if RadioRefrence sold this software directly? And yes, I tried to search for the software here on the site with no success.

I think the mission of this Forum is to inform and help others. I posted my questions and got the answers I needed. I can only hope that many others will benefit from the kind replies sent by members and I respectfully thank everyone who responded.

Mike, for the record, I ordered my software this evening and my shipping was under $3. I am satisfied with that. I am a prudent shopper because the more I save on this, the more I have for that, but danged if I will pay $12.95 for shipping on *any* CD, (but you are welcome to do so).
