Question "googleapis.com"?

I use FireFox v. 3.0.11 with the NoScript v. 1.9.3.3 add-on. Recently I find that the database segment on the main toolbar will not respond unless I tell NoScript to "allow" something called "googleapis.com"
While I certainly don't suspect there's any malicious code on RR, I can't help wondering how "googleapis.com" interacts with the main toolbar. Can any programmers or DB gurus enlighten me?

Thanks!

We use jquery, which is a javascript library - and we load it from Google's javascript library repository.

I've got something in my status bar that is constantly waiting for pagead2.googlesyndication.com

It does this on Firefox but not IE.
