bc246t knob problem

I have a BC246T where the scroll knob tends to behave real wacky. For example when scrolling to move down in the menus, the menu may go up instead. It does not always happen, but when it does it's a bit aggravating. Scanner was bought new (2005 or so) and not been dropped or handled badly...
