reliability

Ten months ago I purchased a MD-2017 for amateur radio use.. Problem is that two of my programming cables have failed apparently due to poor workmanship limiting my use of the radio. Is there any source for a reliable programming cable?

It's time for me to go digital here in NW Ohio and upgrade from the BC895. I'm glad I found this great stie but after searching, I don't see anything about the reliability of scanners sold by Uniden, GRE, and Radioshack. There are a lot of posts regarding specific issues with various models but...
