Default What Is This Country Coming To? ....Banning Ladies Night?

:? Okay....Time for Me to Rant!

What in the world are they thinking..a supreme court decision banning Ladies Night?

I read this last night...

Ladies, it looks like the party's over," reports The Philadelphia Inquirer. Those Ladies' Night bar promotions where you get free or reduced drinks are against the law.

The Inquirer says:

A senior New Jersey civil-rights official yesterday issued a ruling concluding that "ladies' nights" are unlawfully discriminatory.

The paper says J. Frank Vespa-Papaleo, the Director of the New Jersey Civil Rights Commission, "cited a portion of a 1959 state appellate court opinion: 'Once a proprietor extends his invitation to the public, he must treat all members of the public alike.'"

Absent an "important public interest," sex discrimination is illegal, Vespa-Papaleo wrote.

"It's the same as if you tried to say Christians can have free drinks but Jews can't," he said in the interview.

It sounds like the men involved must not have gotten laid when they went to a Ladies night.

What a shame that issues like these are being argued...no ladies nights?...no smoking in cars with kids?...no...no..no...Maybe next they will ban the open display of womens underwear at WalMart because it is too provacative for children to see them.

Maybe I'll sue Victoria's Secret for not carrying my boxer shorts or maybe I will sue Taco Bell for not having American food and discriminating against my right to get a hamburger from them.

Jeeze...with all the problems this country has....the judicial system is being clogged with so much BS...we need to have a National Punch A Lawyer In the Face Day!

my 10 cents worth

You know, this type of BS would not go on if this country wasn't so f-ing sue happy over everything. I've never seen a society more litigious than the one we have today.

I found a great website that showcases what happens when stupid people hire lawyers. Great stuff...

http://www.power-of-attorneys.com/st...on.asp?wacky=0

This one is my favorite:

A Whole Lot of Shaking Going On.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Florida woman, who was taken off an airplane in Dallas and asked to pull a vibrating sex toy out of one of her checked bags, has sued Delta Airlines citing public humiliation. The woman, who was already on board awaiting takeoff with her husband, had her name called over the airplane’s PA system and was then asked to walk with airport officials down to the tarmac.

When advised by a security agent that something was vibrating in one of her bags, she told the agent that it was an “adult toy” that she and her husband had purchased on a trip to Las Vegas. Unlike most toys, I guess batteries were included in the purchase.

She claims that she was forced to open her bag and take the vibrating toy out of the luggage – and here’s the humiliation part of the lawsuit – she had to hold it up for visible viewing. She was then allowed to repack and return to her seat for the flight back to Florida.

The lawsuit alleges that passengers on the side of the plane facing the unveiling of the out of control “toy” saw everything (gasp!!!!!) and that three male Delta employees “began laughing hysterically” and made “obnoxious and sexually harassing comments.”

The woman told a newspaper that she didn’t want to be embarrassed any more than she already had been … then promptly filed the lawsuit – which promptly made her the butt of talk show hosts’ jokes around the country.

(The Dallas Morning News – July 28, 2002)

OH you gotta love it!!! :P

I think it fine, just a little payback for all the double standands that we have. Just think if it would have been the other way around; free drinks for guys some night. Holly shit that have been taken away so fast. Anyway I've found that it's easyer to pick up chicks when it not ladys night.

Y'all want to talk about the lawsuits? Come on out to the Land of Litigation....sunny California. We'll sell you McDonalds coffee that's hot enough to burn you if you spill it in your lap (EGADS!!) and watch out for those Burger King pickles, those puppies are fresh out of the nuker and HOT!! And God help you if you have a dog that actually BARKS or an alarm system that makes noise OUTSIDE because your neighbors will call the cops....not because they are concerned for your property or safety, but because of all the damn noise. Then once they have "some documentation" on the books they will sue you for being a nuisance. But it's okay for their jerk off kid to have one of those stupid little scooters with the tuned pipe on a chainsaw motor....you know, the kind you can hear from two miles up the valley at night, or for Dad to have an INSANELY loud Harley that he MUST ride home from the bar every morning at 0230. And don't even THINK about stubbing him for the noisy exhaust because he'll contest it, nor should you care that he'd probably blow a .23 because he's only had the standard "two beers" and he's not drunk....besides he's only two doors from home, he can just walk the bike if you cut him a break. Arrest him and he'll file a personnel complaint because you "harrassed" him based on the fact that he's a "biker". I could go on all day for sure, but you get the idea.......oh, and WELCOME TO CALIFORNIA

Default You can guess what's next --correct?

Elimination of "senior citizen" discounts--why give 'em a break just because they are older.
Handicapped parking--why give 'em a break because they are handicapped.

Etc.Etc, Etc....this country is going "lawyer crazy"

I am rolling on the floor!!!!!!

I sprayed coffee out my nose because I was laughing so hard!

I sure would like to have one of those six hundred and forty-six handicap spots when I go to Wally-World, instead of having to walk from B.F.E.!!!!

Amen VSNY!

And ECPD279....I think the states should allow hunting tags for those friggin scooters.....I am so sick of hearing them and dodging them! Nothing like our local cops ignoring the fact that they are illegal to operate on roadways..they just turn their heads the other way.

Maybe I will sue the Sheriff..lol

9 times out of 10, the people parking in the handicap parking spaces get out walking with no problem, and they have legit tags...???

They must be using their parents disability (or who the heck ever is disabled) as an excuse to use a handicap parking space...

OK in my case, my mother is legally handicapped, and has no liscense, but owns the vehicle, thus its hc tags, I am the "chauffeur" so to speak. So that would explain if you ever saw us pull up to Wal Mart and the me (not hc) step out of the driver's seat. Remember there are many such circumstances like this. Yes it is abused. And thats all that needs said, as this could lead to another one of those endless rants that really does not have an end, or meaning anyway.

Not ALL handicaps are PHISICAL. Some are mental. Those you see walking fine most likely have a mental handicap.

If your mother is not with you, what is your justification for HAVING to park there? You are abusing HER benefits. If she is with you, that's an entirely different story. You don't park in a HC spot because someone in your family is HCed. You park there because YOU are, and can't walk farther than those spaces. Even if you dropped her off at the front of the store, that means you can walk to the car and come down to pick her up, too. Those spaces are reserved for those who NEED them.

If your dad is a cop, you can't arrest anyone. If your mother is a lawyer, you can't respresent anyone in court. If you're not HC, you have no right (tags or not) to park in a HC space.

As for why to have them at skating rinks? Spectators. Maybe grandma wants to watch her grandkid skating.

You gotta love the car that parks in the STORK parking and a guy gets out of the car. If I ever would see that while walking by, I would not hold back laughing out loud in front of the guy, and I would tell him why.

True. However, I was mainly talking about those who don't have any physical ailments.

Yes we know, but most disability parking permeit laws refer to phyisical problems. It is just that not all would be visble to an observer.

I am sure some states issue for mental conditions, but would think that is the minority.

OK. Let's try this one last time. I'm talking about those who park there just to get a closer spot. I'm sure no states issue permits for that. Those who have a 'mental' problem understanding that it's for the HC only.

I only park in hc spots when my mother is in the vehicle,... If I am alone I dont plan on running the lil ole lady from pasadena over to get the good spot. Now if you really want to hear about parking issues, how about the leo in his cruiser off duty and parking in the fire lane to run in and get some groceries???
