I heard that theres a limit to the number of connections at a time, I think it was around 4-6 at one time. Maybe a time limit as well, god bless I wish

Potential customers who want a quiet and pleasant flight say:
We'll fly another airline in the future.

OR will we see deep discounts for frequent flyers offered here? :

I don't see what the big deal is about using a cell phone on an a/c? I have done it many times. It's more of an FCC problem than an FAA problem.

Yeah............ nothing.

I did a bunch of experimenting to see if a cell phone would interfere with any of the avionics. I used the cell phone while tracking a VOR, AP ON (hdg select), using ADF, ILS approach. In all cases we found there was no interference with any of the avionics or navigational equipment from cell phones.

We did this on a Cessna 172, Piper Saratoga, Beech Super King Air 300 & a Cessna Slowtation.

When I had a Nextel, whenever it got near a speaker, the speaker would make noises. I left it on my nightstand, next to my clock radio, at night. If someone called, I would hear the speaker from the clock radio make noises a second or two before the actual phone would ring. In fact, this was true in my car over the car radio speakers, my computer speakers, or any other speakers I happeded to be near.

What I don't get is if a cell phone is allowed on an airplane, which is a two way communication device, why is a scanner not allowed, which only recieves and could not possibly interfere with other electronic devices (maybe the oscillator emits RF for the IF from the hetrodyning process (or however that works), but not enough juice to really matter).

Great, one of the last places you could be without having to hear someone loudly talking about personal problems on a cell phone is gone.

I can just imagine half of the people on a flight all yacking away at the same time yelling into their phones. Sounds like ear plugs might be in order.

GOD I hate cell phones.

I wouldn't panic just yet. This is just a small handful of foreign (to the US) carriers implementing this technology/policy. I think people should GAFL and leave the phones OFF during flight, nobody/nothing is that important and you can't do anything about the fact that you are stuck at altitude for sometimes many hours anyway. If you think you are so important that you must be in constant contact even while "detained" in the air, you are full of it. If by chance you ARE someone of such importance, you will be flying in a private aircraft in the first place and cell use, legal or not, would not be an issue.

I have also experienced speaker noises. I usually have to turn off my computer's speakers when I get a call because the crackling noise is so loud.

At my church, I always had problems. I was the A/V Director, and when I ran the sound board, the noise would come over the entire PA system. I usually had to shut off my Nextel.
