How Low Will It Go?
DJIA poised to descend through 7,000!
That's a 50% LOSS from its high.
So how low will it go?
&
How long will it be before it recovers to 14,000+?
My guess? Low- 5,100 +/- 500
Recover- 10+ years (hopefully)

The problem is, it is so bad, the President cannot stop it, no one can.
Old Crusty Yellowtooth wouldn't have been able to stop it either.
Read up on what people did to survive the 1st Great Depression. You may need those skills sooner than you think.

You missed the point.
Again.
The DJIA is based on a free market type of economy. Capitolism if you will. The more The One takes us in a government owned market type of economy, call it socialism if you will, the more the DJIA will continue to drop.
This was starting to show during the last part of Bush's tenure as he started making socialistic moves.

Yep, sorry boys, looks like we're not going to make (survive) this one.
I recently saw a news edition where they discussed the fact that America's exports represent those of third world countries. They also said that America is possibly on a fast track to third world status thanks to the massive trade deficit, outsourcing and job losses.
I've been saying that for years ever since they started NAFTA. What did they expect. Let's get down to the fundamentals- no jobs = no prosperity.

It's gonna be like the TV show Jericho soon!
Our own nation will nuke a bunch of our own cities and China will start airlifting food.
Where's Johnston Green when you need him?

Maybe they got Barry Soetoro, Obama (or whoever) in as a means to quell the upcoming riots in the inner cities due to food shortages and all federal and state aid being stopped?

A lot of the stuff I do (for my 9 to 5 job) is for big government contractors (Lockheed and Northrup Grumman for example) to make the tools of war. Even with the cuts I expect The One to make in the military, we still have the resources for sustainability and in fact are looking to double or triple output in the next 2 to 4 years.
Even then, if your prediction of complete doom comes true and literally everyone is out of work, I'll be able to use the skills of my trade as a way to provide a service for people that need things built/repaired.
I generate my own power (upwards of 18kwh a day). I have a(n unusually deep) well that is not part of the majority of water tables in my area. I have enough land to grow my own food and produce fuel. I can (and do) re-load ammunition and can hunt/defend myself (and my neighbors) for quite a long time.
Living in rural So Cal I (obviously) prepare for earthquakes, so I like to think I'm ahead of the game.

Congratulations. You may be one of the few to survive if the SHTF. I am glad your job is expected to be stable. I wouldn't wish a lay off on anyone, well almost anyone.
I heard the U.S has been increasingly buying military weapons/munitions from foreign manufacturers because it's a lot cheaper. That's funny, we are now outsourcing our own defense contractors. I'm waiting for the day when they outsource police and fire services. Don't laugh, they would if they could. And they just may.

The kind of stuff I work on can't be made by foreign manufacturers and I kind of doubt they'll be outsourcing this kind of technology any time soon...

Rekd, you have the arms, we have the numbers, who do you think will win in the end? You'll get more flies with honey than with vinegar, think about your chances of survival when you fire the first shot smartypants.

Your problem, aside from arrogance, is pretending to know anything at all about me...
I'm not sure who you think I am, or what position I'll take if the fertilizer hits the ventilator, and it really doesn't matter anyway, but if you're foolish enough to come onto my property un-invited at a time of civil unrest thinking I won't come out of no-where and shoot your dumb ass, then quite obviously YOU lose.
I don't care if you're a thief, a soldier, a cop or a rabid dog. I don't care how many you have with you. At that point it's a matter of me and my family being safe and the only thing that will help you, and it's highly unlikely to happen, is if I don't know you're coming before you get there.
So do yourself a favor, smartypants, and quit pretending to know anything about me, my ability or my motives, mkthx.

5-10 years is the sad estimate I am hearing for a recovery. I think things are worse than expected by anyone, and I can see a 5,000 point market at the bottom.
