Default HighPoint N.J.

Was wondering if anyone may be familiar with that location. I am going to be not to far from there this weekend and was planning on heading up there on Friday to try out a few of the home brewed antennas. Looks like a pretty nice location to set up for a few hours and play on 2m / 70cm. I'm probably going to set up my portable mast with my 70cm double diamond with reflector for UHF and and a 2 meter moxon I threw together in a hurry. So, if anyone is in the area I should be on at least one of these freqs at a given time: 146.520 and 446.000 . Also, would be glad to have some company up there. The inlaws aren't into much of the same things I like so it would be a nice break to meet some new people and maybe just hang out for a bit.

You will probably have much better luck on a response in the NJ forum. I am too far south of that location to be of any help to you. Have a safe trip....

Default High Point NJ area

Beautiful area overall. Elevation at the High Point Monument, in the State Park, is 1,803 ft. Lots of people go there and try out their equipment; their is a large parking lot at the top to do this. You get clear access to viewing PA, NJ, & NY without a problem. You can see the Poconos in PA, and the same with the Catskills in NY on a clear day. You should be able to hit various repeaters from there with a breeze. If you want to try a nice place to eat for dinner, I'd recommend the Walpack Inn, about 45 mins. south of High Point State Park on County Rt. 615 (the Stokes Forest/Del. Water Gap NRA border). Good luck; it's my favorite area of the state.

Good Point fineshot, I should have thought of that. GM, I think we may have been to the Walpack Inn once before, we are staying in the Pocono Mountains ( Dingmans Ferry area).

You may also wish to consider the following North Western NJ and surrounding area repeater:

Mount Freedom: 146.895 PL 151.4 (Large active group)
