Washington County silent?
Perhaps I have my scanner programmed wrong but can anyone pick up anything on the Washington County system? I know most of it is encrypted now...bastards...but I get NOTHING! Help! Being P25 Trunked I just programmed in the primary control channel of 857.4625 on my BC796D which worked a couple of months ago. Thoughts?

Looks like 2 sites with the same frequencies:
Johnson City & Washington County Public Safety (Project 25) Trunking System, Johnson City, Tennessee - Scanner Frequencies
You will also need to program the alternating control channel (857.21250). Some people like to program all the frequencies in to eliminate the chance of missing the control channel including me, because some of them change daily. Just by looking at the gray site, I would say that all the control channels are not listed in red and blue so program them all in the scanner or at least the alternating channel and that should get you going.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried programming them all in. No joy. It used to work two months ago with just the control channel. It's probably something they changed or with my scanner setup. Can anyone else even hear Washington County on the P25 network? At least I will know it's something I need to change.

Thanks again. Now I get occasional blips of static and about a half second of audio every now and then. I tried deleting the 857.2125 control channel (which is the only one it seems to want to lock onto). Then it can't find any control channel to lock onto so it just sits there scanning the programmed frequencies. When I reprogram 857.2125 back in and tell it to trunk all the scanner does is sit there blinking SCAN, locked onto the control channel, and toggling between DAT and NFM. On 858.2375 and 859.4625 it toggles LNK and NFM. Every now and then I see the display toggle to P25/NFM.
I'm wondering if I have something programmed wrong in my Trunked bank.
EDIT: Just saw @milf post. Will wait to see the changes...

Do you know which one is the Control Channel? Manually tune to the frequency and listen for the control channel noise and the system info should come up on the screen.

If you cant find it, tune to these and see if one of these are the control channel.
854.01250
856.21250
856.23750
856.46250
857.21250
857.23750
857.46250
858.21250
858.23750
858.46250
859.21250
859.23750
859.46250
859.58750
859.68750
These will either be voice channels or control channels.

Those are the frequencies from the fcc database which shows no 860mhz frequencies. That doesnt mean that they are not on the system though. If those dont work then try the other ones from the RR database such as the 860's.

Yes- 857.2125 is the control channel since it is the one displaying DAT and NFM. Since @jcmt is able to hear it then it must be something with my BC796D setup. I'm sorry. These trunked systems seem to get more confusing and difficult to set up every time I turn my scanner on.
I have all frequencies programmed in on one bank. I put them in numerical order. I moved the CC to the first frequency slot. But that hasn't helped. I checked to see if one frequency was accidentally programmed as Priority or something. I can hear talk if I manually tune to various frequencies but when trunking it won't do anything but park on the CC. Sometimes it seems my scanner forgets it's a trunked bank and slips back into conventional. I will try reprogramming the entire bank from scratch (I've lost my computer so I can no longer program it with my PC and must use the BC796D interface).
BTW, I find the Uniden manuals to be horribly confusing and almost useless...maybe it's just me.

Sounds like the t-tables are messed up or you have the wrong setting programmed in. It probably would be best to just delete that system and reprogram it, like you say, and go from there.

Using the new frequencies posted by @milf (and reprogramming the whole bank) I'm getting some conversation but I seem to be missing stuff (maybe some frequencies are missing?). Or maybe it's the encryption messing it up... I programmed in the Gray frequencies which includes all of them. For the bank I have the Status Bit set to Off and the End Code is Ignore. The bank was set to a 2 second Delay. I changed that to None...
I am picking up a few conversations but it really seems like I'm missing some dialog. Sometimes it cuts off the dispatcher. Reception is better than it was. Thanks for the help! VERY appreciated! If I figure out anything else I will post back.
EDIT: The more it scans the more it sounds like it is locking onto the conversations. I think all is well. Thanks so much!

Run Pro96Com on it. That will list all the info. Tower ID, Site info, ALL CC's, etc
