I would also like to quote this "For scanner buffs there will be one major disappointment from the new system, and that is that it is reportedly encrypted from end-to-end. This was for the safety of the first responders using the radio system according to the city."

This is unfortunate. But as I've said in other threads before, we have freedom of speech in this country so contacting the powers that be at agencies that fully encrypt and expressing your displeasure (calmly and maturely) as well as giving arguments for why having main dispatch channels (i.e. not tac or special ops channels) in the clear can be helpful to them and add to the security of the city/community (listener hears a call, sees the suspect, calls dispatch and tells them, etc.). You get a hand full of people calling in all with logical reasons, it might make them talk about it and reconsider. Letters to the Editor of the local paper(s) can also get others who agree to call and talk with them.

But anyway, this got a little off topic of TACN I think (even the article post was, unless I'm mistaken) but just my two cents. It couldn't hurt.

Here is the 2nd paragraph that VANS113 left out

While some police and fire operations do require a higher level of security, such as the drug task force, criminal investigators, and SWAT teams; many do not; and consideration should be given to allowing the public limited access to the system while at the same time ensuring legitimate safety and security concerns are handled. One method of doing so is for the City of Clarksville to consider providing official live streaming audio feeds online that could provide controllable access to what the public could receive. This is something I hope the city will consider doing in the near future.

Good to know. Folks should contact the department requesting such, or to have main channels open/clear.

Program it Motorola 9600 normal on the Metro System, and the 800 MHz TACN sites... If your close enough to the VHF TACN sites, you will have to do the other settings for that.. Use CC only. You should have no problem picking it up except the usual simulcast distortion on the Metro System that all but the new Unidens have.

Default Cookeville

Got really bored this afternoon and went to Arc Patrol to locate the latest TACN list.

Put it into my HP1 and it became immediately active on:

THP-D6-DISP1

Law Dispatch 47022

Heard units 4041050, 4041162.

Loud & clear.

For what its worth!

The Whitehouse site is alive and in test mode. Central TN TACN coming alive. David found it putting out good signal at 5 bars from his QTH. TY Slatescan.

770.00625 Test signal on that freq. No CC data yet. Should have actual CC up within week or tow if they run it like everywhere else. As close as he lives to that tower, he will definitely nail it probably first lol. He is on constant watch for that one and the others nearby.

I haven't read through all the post so this has been answered I'm sure. short answer, can the gre PSR 500 pick up the Tennessee highway patrol? or is the thp phase 2? I've got the new uniden 436hp and the psr 500. picking it up fine on the 436. psr 500 still figuring out if it's capible or not?

THP dispatch 1 on all districts is still phase I. If it's listed as D under the mode column then it's phase I. Phase II is listed as T. I can pick up District 1 & 2 dispatch 1 on my pro 18 so you can pick the dispatch 1 TGID up on the 500.

Correct, all Dispatch 1's are still Phase 1 (FDMA), and in the clear. From what I know, all the THP Phase 2 (TDMA) ones are also fully encrypted. Unclear at the current time if when the full switch to Phase 2 in 2017 means THP will then fully encrypt everything or not.

The PSR 500 will not decode APCO P25 Phase 2.
