Default N. Dallas/Collin County Freq

I normally just listen to Fire and Police and pretty much havent had to do anything with programing of my scanner since I first set it up.....

I have a Pro 97 as most all that I listen to is still analog..

Is there a handful of Fed frequencies I can add in for this area that will pretty much cover me for most big situations? FBI, DHS, FEMA, etc?

DEA is pretty much analog but not more than them, you'd need a digital scanner...I have a 106 that I have nothing but the fed's and digital public safety .....DEA ch 1 has been very active here in N TX in analog

That pretty much figures.. heh

I know the day was going to come sometime when I would have to get a digital, but it seems every PD/FD is fighting it to the very end and I have been glad.

Im just not sure I can justify dropping $500 on one, I kept thinking the prices would have to come down on them, but it hasnt budged that I can tell. Other than that time the F&F coupon from RS came out and they were on sale, I have never seen them for much under that price.

I will just have to ride it out till my PD swaps over and I guess then I can decide if its worth it or not

Thanks for the reply

Well, if you do a cost/channel/talkgroup/frequency study, you will find that it costs pennies per channel/talkgroup/frequency. This is much less expensive than earlier, 4-channel, crystal controlled scanners, which would cost $20-$30 plus per channel. So, start saving and enjoy the new digital scanners.

I second this...

We've also needed a Texas DPS sticky for awhile...

Heads up San Antonio...

I just got a hit on a known USMS frequency (162.7125MHz NAC 293). All the operator said was "hey, did ya'll copy?" The database for San Antonio only shows 162.7875 (which I have never heard in my 3 years of working in San Antonio).

Just heard 170.8000MHz, NAC 293, another known USMS frequency. This was a few more transmissions. 2 guys running 2 10-28s that someone is known to drive- I guess the convict they are looking for.

I heard a lot of activity on 408.000 Saturday. They were talking about a woman who was going to meet her husband. Not sure who this was.

Max,

This is a Customs frequency and Charlie100 is the callsign of the NLECC in Orlando, FL, as seen in this thread.

An "OMAHA" unit is a Customs aircraft, and usually identify by "OMAHA X Y Z" where:
XYZ= last few of FAA registered tail number

I use this site to identify them.

Well who ever was Talking to Charlie-100 Was a Helo, as it had that "DPD Air-1 background sound" AND was a Charlie unit also. It was a radio check. He did not sound like he said "OMAHA" But I might have mixed up call signs also and Missed the Omaha part.

Maybe he had a "C" in his tail number and thats why he said "Charlie?"

At San Antonio Int'l there is a Customs AMB hangar, with a Eurocopter EC120 Colibri, tail number N375HS. He rarely calls himself "Omaha 5 Hotel Sierra" anymore. He just shortens it to "5 Hotel Sierra" and the local dispatch and Charlie100 have no problem comprehending who he is. Maybe it is the same situation with that aircraft and he never said "Omaha."

Edit: A lot of the EC120s end in either "Charlie Bravo" or "Hotel Sierra."

Could be. Or in my Happiness to hear something I spaced out and missed the other call sign completely.
