I know they ran some senarios and such about a month or so back getting ready for the Super Bowl in Cowboys Stadium. Long story short my dad that is retired told me yesterday that they said something about doing this again soon on the local news a day or 2 ago. Does anyone know anything about this or when it may take place and what frequencies would be possibly used? I would love to listen to this as I missed it the first round.
And how far do you think you would be able to hear this? I work in Dallas but live in Plano area
They used the recent Cotton Bowl game as one "run-through" of some of the traffic & communications plans.
I expect you'll hear some of the traffic, both "rehearsals", and actual event related (game day, and the various other related events that will occur in the area) on the
Dallas City Local Govt. TRS. More specifically, the Incident Command talkgroups. These, apparently, were used during the various events related to the NBA All Star game last year. You should be able to hear this system from Plano, as well as anywhere in Dallas County. For Dallas PD, besides Ch-8 (tactical), Ch-12 is often used for special events. Dallas Fire Rescue could use Ch 3 (451.1500) or Ch 4 (453.6750).
We may finally see some real traffic (as opposed to radio testing) on the two 700mhz systems, which are divided up with one side being
Dallas (including the three City of Dallas sites, plus sites in Denton & Collin County), and
DFW Airport (which also includes the Tarrant County site).
And actual game day scanning would have to include the Arlington
system, with it's events & stadium specific talkgroups.
But there will be Super Bowl related events all over the area, so pick your system, & there's likely to be something on it, at some time. ESPN is setting up shop in downtown Fort Worth for most of the preceding week, with events. So the Fort Worth/Tarrant County system will get some traffic. The "NFL Experience" will run for over a week at the Dallas Convention Center.
Guidelive.com has a listing of events and locations for many of the various activities.
And, as was on the news today, if the Bears get in the game, the President says he'll attend, which would really hype the radio activity.
