Default Randolph AFB Airshow 2011

Folks,

Great airshow coming up this weekend. Blue angles are in the air now scoping the field now on the following frequencies:

237.800 Solos
275.350 Formation
284.250 Formation
305.900 Fat Albert

Additionally, the Air Boss for the airshow is on 123.100 AM. Airshow discrete is 128.250 AM

I'm not attending the airshow this weekend but will be out at the practice tomorrow thanks to a good friend

This year will be one of the better ones we've had in San Antonio in awhile, wish I could make it, but I have some familial obligations in Waco this weekend.

I spent the entire afternoon out at Randolph - it was nice to be there without all the crowds

The airboss frequency seems to have changed - they were on 123.100 AM today for the practice.

Question Unusual AirBoss freqs for this years RAFB Airshow

Lindsay Posted:
Additionally, the Air Boss for the airshow is on 123.100 AM. Airshow discrete is 128.250 AM .....

I am supprised that the Air Boss used 123.100 AM ... isn't that for "Air Search & Rescue" use ?
Also, the AirShow discrete of 128.250 AM is currently listed as the RAFB Tower VHF freq.

Back at the 2009 RAFB AirShow I recall the Air Boss being on 123.300 & 383.000 ?
So do I gather that these AirShow freqs change up every time I take it ?
I have had 123.400 AM " Air Shows Common" loaded in my scanner for years ... is this ever valid ?

I had to work this last weekend but would have loved to have gone and taken in the sites & sounds

ps ~ I still remember the thrill I had at the 2009 RAFB Air Show seeing the F-22 Raptor show off !!!

btw ~ What a contrast seeing Lindsay's son standing under the massive C5 Galaxy Aircraft ! Wow !

§ 87.421 Frequencies.
(a) The frequency 123.100 MHz is available for use by control towers and RCOs at special aeronautical events on the condition that no harmful interference is caused to search and rescue operations in the locale involved.
