Smile GATRRS Botines

Looks like the botines site on the GATRRS in the webb county area might belong to laredo PD. Today there was a chase with laredo pd i could hear all of the traffic of the chase and also from the dispatchers. it was all free and clear no encryption the weird this is that the botines is vhf not 800mhz.

It doesn't belong to LPD per se, but users in the area might have requested that the Laredo Public Safety P25 system be linked to GATRRS for other agencies (who use GATRRS full time) to have access to communications during the chase. It just so happened that one of the GATRRS users was affiliated with the Botines site (or the dispatcher can command/force the talkgroup to specific sites even). Either way, it was probably the two systems linked, which is entirely possible between bands with P25 systems (that's part of the beauty of the open source protocol).

Awesome stuff! It is amazing when an agency that has been in the dark for so long all of a sudden shows up loud and in the clear one day.
