Default San Antonio Construction

There is a brand new 500' self supporting tower being erected just south of the Mag's office (401 S. Frio.) The FCC tower registration shows the address as 515 S. Frio and the City of San Antonio as the owner....

Should be interesting as to what communications infrastructure is going up here. The tower base is all that has been erected at the moment, probably around 50 feet or so, is clearly visible from IH 35 and especially as you take the Cesar Chavez/Frio Street exit southbound.

Well duh.

The city of San Antonio has transferred the ownership of the current SAPD headquarters to the Federal Government, who will be building a new Federal Courthouse complex at the site of 214 W. Nueva.

I've been watching the rather fast construction of the new CIty of San Antonio Police & Fire headquarters at the former location of the KMart across the street from the PD HQ parking lot at Santa Rosa & Nueva.

The existing 500 foot tower located behind the PD HQ will have to come down. Evidently there isn't room at the new facility for a tower. The new building is at least 7 stories tall.

Also, I heard from a Dailey-Wells guy about the brand new state of the art 911 Call Center
construction at the former Brooks City Base. It's a massive undertaking to integrate all
the 911 Dispatch Centers of SAPD, SAFD/EMS and the Bexar County Fire Alarm consoles.
