Network Down??
I have been hearing Walker County and Huntsville fine all day and probaly for the past 2 hours it has been quite. I just realized that my scanner is not picking up any signal from Walker Counties P25 sites. Is the network down or is my scanner messed up? I have changed nothing and it has been working fine for 2 years.

Im pretty sure I figured out the problem. After searching for a bit I have found all of walker county now to have a control channle of, 853.90000 and an alternate channle of, 853.52500. I am hearing Walker County on these frequencies now instead of their old. Would this mean they rebanded?
I am using Pro96Com to look at the information on this system and I am getting the same info just different frequencies and info.
Frequencies found so far:
Control: 853.90000
Alternate: 853.52500
Voice Channle: 853.28750
Voice Channle: 852.81250
I will be submitting all of this to the database.
Why would they change frequencies??

It would appear your first guess, "rebanded", is what's happened.
The new control frequency of 853.9000 is 15MHz below the old one of 868.9000, same with the alternate (new 853.5250/old 868.5250). Generally speaking, when a system, or site, is 'rebanded', the frequencies in the 866 to 868MHz range are dropped down 15MHz.
While the database here does not yet reflect rebanding, the FCC license shows it flipped to code YE (rebanded) on 11/17/2011. Probably both of the Walker County sites will be done, if that has not happened already. You're looking at the "East Walker County" site, have you also checked the "West"?

I have not yet checked up on the West tower seeing as its a little far out from Huntsville and not picked up well. Would you happen to have the rebanded frequencies for the West tower? Ill have to plug them in and see if I can pick anything up.
I submitted it to the database not to long ago so hopefully it wont be long before it gets updated.

It seems the west tower has done the same.
Control: 852.40000
Alternate: 852.15000
No voice channles yet

Take all the pre-rebanding frequencies and subtract 15Mhz and you will have the new post-rebanding frequencies, no need to listen with a CC decoding program

They would do it because they have to. The frequencies in the 860 MHz range now belong to the SMR folks.

Just to be clear, the RR Database will never reflect this system with a "re-band" flag, because this is a P25 system and there is nothing special about the change, other than changing the frequencies. Only Motorola systems need be concerned with any special programming in regards to rebanding problems.
I would encourage all those folks who can, to get the list of new frequencies together and submit them. You will probably notice that the TxWARN Motorola system is also undergoing this change.

I was wondering when that was going to happen.

For anyone who monitors the TxWARN systems I'd suggest joining the HoustonScan Yahoo group. Lots of rebanding discussion has been going on there for several days. It is a great companion to RadioReference and many of the members post here as well.
HoustonScan : For radio scanner enthusiasts in and around the Houston, Texas area. Posting
