Default radio service removing NPSPAC channels

A radio service company that serves many north Texas departments is removing the NPSPAC conventional channels from the radios. They are also making sure the radios have the 800mHz interop channels are active in these radios.

I guess the "powers that be" don't want the troops to have private conversations and operations using the direct mode that (if programmed) can be used on these frequencies. I guess the troops will resort to using their cell phones for their private conversations.

No, it is probably because of rebanding. The old NPSPAC 1-5 and DIRECT 1-3 channels are now 8CALL90-8TAC97.

Strange. I put the new 8Tac channels, both pre-reband and post-reband, in an edit to my post, but I guess they didn't stick.
