Exclamation San antonio PD Dispatch Center Shut down

This just in @ 1:55 AM CST San antonio police dispatch center stopped all dispatching activity's
from 214 W Nueva Due to a major gas leak

now under the emergency all officers must back one a other up and no car chase
and if an officer has an emergency officer must switch to SAPD 1-M INFO
no computers not even info channel can run info from there console

The first indication something was up was the dispatcher's on all patrol channels
got on there channels and said that 214 w nueva was being evacuated and there
will be no dispatcher on the patrol channel next a (AGENCY) E-Tone went out two minutes
later and all traffic on all police channels was gone

SAFD is working the incident of SAFD TAC-1
The SAFD Active calls web site had The listed info

3 12/23/2011 1:01:33 AM DOWNTOWN (BC1) VAPOR-LEAK S Santa Rosa / W Nueva Map 78207 *TAC1

Dont know how long this will last but is still going on at posting time
ok the bexar county sheriffs dispatch area is reporting in there building a strong odor of gas
more evacuated buildings sounds very dangerous and any spark can be a bad thing and even bill millers kitchen near the leak is being evacuated the gas main in this area runs by the Drainage ditch and is a 16 inch pipe line @ 2:31 Am Hazmat was dispatched to the area command post
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the audio was decoded with dsd for windows trying it out for the first time for now it ok some problems
vs linux dsd decoder but i am very pleased

Question

My Question is if you had an emergency and called 911
would you get any service or are the 911 call takers forwarding the (KC's) or Keycards
to the units in the field or is the incident that bad as to take out the police side of the 911 call center functions

ems appears to be dispatching call

but some repo company's are reporting no 911 call services
are picking up calls

is the 911 call takers out of 214 w nueva and if so sound like we are in a bad situation
and the city is very vulnerable to this emergency situation

Very cool Dog. With little to no info in the press, you've provided infinitely greater detail than SAPD. This is what happens when your emergency operations are not completely transparent. With the PD hiding behind their communications you'll never know what's really going on.

Oddly, this did not make the news here in the Houston area (AFAIK). I didn't know anything about this except for the thread.

Here is a link to one of the local TV channel's report on it yesterday:
S.A. police evacuate again; Chief says HQ shutdown until 10 p.m. | kens5.com San Antonio

PD dispatchers were seen running from the building screaming "ITS GONNA SPLODE!" as the fire dispatchers remained at their post until the backup centers were operational.
