Heard an Universal City officer calling on tg 12079. The dispatcher called back to the officer. I didn't hear what they called the tg.

Could be one of their city-wide channels, my Selma friend said all of the agencies got two city-wide channels each to do with as they wish. A lot of the ID's I have gotten are from officers on the wrong channel and the dispatcher telling them they are on such and such a channel and to go back to primary.
On a side note, All of the PD's in the area have a primary, secondary, car to car, two ops channels a CID channel and two city-wide channels they can assign as they see fit. As you can tell each city uses them differently and some channels not at all. All have the Randolph Metro ops talkgroup and the Prusuit channel also. They have surrounding area primary channels as well, such as Selma has UCPD primary and Schertz in their mobile and handheld etc... Although they never seem to monitor eachother anymore.

Just going to take time, Just like on the old system I saw a good amount of mutual aid and event talkgroups programmed into an officers radio that were never used, except for a random key up from time to time.

Don,
Might I suggest that you look into using ID Tracker software to aid you in your task to identify new talk groups. It has the advantages of being free, it works with a wide variety of radios, including now the more recent GRE and RS high end scanners, and is designed to aid folks in identifying new TGs on systems.
Basically it works like this, once set up and running (assuming you have nothing in the program yet) it will note new talk groups as they are used and optionally record them. Once you have identified a TG, you can tell the software to skip that TG in the future and it will just ignore it and continue to look for new TGs. The nice part of the program is how customizable it is and you can continue to use your radio normally. You can tell it to record new or unknown TGs but just scan others while also ignoring others you already know but don't want to hear (sanitation or other public works for example) or listen to.
The program has been around a number of years, was written by and is maintained by a DB Admin here on the site and it really is designed to do just this one task, aid hobbyists in identifying talk groups on trunking systems.

Donald,
What would help to make ID Tracker work better with the screen reader?

I got ID Tracker to work. The only thing I don't like is I use the keyboard to move around the screen. ID tracker wants to control the radio using the number pad with the num lock turned off.
thanks

Donald, I am not sure if I understand the issue. If the Num Lock is off, the keypad functions as arrow keys, page up, page down, etc. ID Tracker uses the keyboard keys for various functions. If you hit the F10 key in ID Tracker, it brings up a list of the key mapping.
Would adding the capability to disable the keyboard to control ID Tracker (and the scanner) help?
Regards,

It could help I guess. My screen reader uses the number pad with the num lock turned off as a mouse.

Donald,
I have updated ID Tracker III to allow you do disable the keyboard control of scanner functions. Please see the setting "Disable Keyboard Control of Scanner" in the main system settings. You can obtain the update using the link below.

New Braunfels PD primary was patched to the NB P25 site for awhile today. Also noticed that one of the units had a lcra radio ID and not the typical patch ID of 0.

Tonight I am having a problem listening to the Live Oak site. Not all the time the problem shows up. When someone is done talking it sounds like a printer printing in the backround. It stops after a while. I am using a psr 500. I have also heard the same thing on a pro 197.
