What's the Civil Air Patrol freq in San Antonio ?
Has anyone heard the Civil Air Patrol Ham Net lately / this year ?
I used to hear their CAP Net checkins every Tuesday night at 7pm sharp
on 148.1500 FM 146.2 PL. After approx 3 ish checkins it was concluded.
I have had them in my favs both at work (Pro-197) and home (Pro-106)
and have not logged any hit counts on either in about a year or so, etc.
I lQQked in an old 2003 Police Call book p363 under US Government
and the following freqs were listed as follows:
Civil Air Patrol
??=143.9500
F1=148.1500
F2=148.1250
F3=148.1375
F4=149.5375
Has anybody monitored the Civil Air Patrol lately in the San Antonio area ?
If so, what freq and tone were they on ? A bonus if you recall the day/time ?
I thought to try an open tone search on 148.1500 but still nothing received .
I just figured that one of you HAM or Mil guys would easily solve this one ?

Michael,
I recall hearing them on 148.150 PL 146.2 on Fridays last year, but I haven't had time to listen lately. I also was hearing flight check-ins in P25 on the same frequency.

John, yeah the RR Wiki indicates CAP nets were on Fridays 7pm, just remembered hearing on Tuesday ?
I stepped up my search to re-discover a valid and active Civil Air Patrol freg for the San Antonio area, etc.
The following is were I will NOW be lQQking for activity / hit counts ... you and the Wiki say check out P25 ...
CivilAirPatrol-D 148.150000 FM NAC 5B6 (anybody know how to convert to DEC NAC ?)
CivilAirPatrol-N 148.150000 FM CTCSS 146.2 (wiki listed this as the North Repeater in SATX)
CivilAirPatrol-S 148.125000 FM CTCSS 118.8 (wiki listed this as the South Repeater in SATX)
Hmm, while I'm at it anyone know some Valid Aircraft Emergency ELT freqs that "might" be heard ?
ELT-CrashLocator 406.5000 FM Search (hey at least it's a ball park start, some VHF I think too ?)
And of course the standard related freqs to go with these above.
Air Search+Rescu 123.100000 AM
AirEmergency-VHF 121.500000 AM
AirEmergency-UHF 243.000000 AM
Air-2-Air Chat-1 123.025000 AM
USAF ANG-F16's 143.600000 AM
NORAD AICC AWACS 364.200000 AM
NORAD 271.000000 AM
ps~ I keep meaning to grow out my Mil-Air freqs .... always opened to interesting suggestions to include.

406 MHz ELTs operate on one of several channels in the 406.0-406.1 band depending on when it was manufactured.
When activated they transmit short wideband data bursts approximately once every 50 seconds that a narrowband FM receiver probably can't even detect. They also have a 121.5 MHz beacon for local direction finding.

Understand that the wiki is user supported, if the NET Nights/Times have changed, someone needs to say-so and go in and make the changes

What Version of Windows do you run ?
Under XP, Open your Calculator
Pick Scientific View
click on HEX and enter 5B6
then click on DEC and viola 1462 aka 146.2
PS - all the CAP TX info came from their own guides
http://capstar.dnsalias.net/COMM_HANDBOOK.PDF
PS - Cap only has Two Freqs [Repeaters] 148.1250 or 148.1500, guess they are not active in your area ?

Mike, I only recall hearing them Friday afternoons from 1600-1900 hours or so. They should be plenty active still. I'll try to check this Friday.
Every time I've heard them it's been from an exterior antenna, never the duck (never).

Last night in northern Comal County I could hear analog traffic on 148.1500 MHz but could never confirm it was coming from San Antonio CAP. Again, the only time I hear CAP San Antonio is Friday evenings between 4-7ish. Keep hunting Michael!

Thanks John. did you happen to note if you observed a PL tone such as 146.2 on the CAP SA-North Rptr ?
Also, ecps92, I had seen where it was reported that the CAP was using P25 on 148.15 with a NAC of 5B6
so if that coverts to 146.2, then I what I saw in a CAP thread could not possibly be a valid P25 NAC w/ ".2"

Michael,
I was listening from my Yaesu, and didn't note a PL (it's not shown on the screen, only a menu item), but it has always been 146.2 in the past. On future Friday afternoons I'll be nearer to North San Antonio to help out with this.

CAP Radio Freq
Meaning that only CAP members with Communication training have access to frequencies used by CAP. We are never to divulge the frequencies to anyone. The frequencies should never be posted on this or any other site.

Yet you're using public airwaves that are monitor able by anyone with a cheap scanner.
People have simply posted what they have found. Its not a secret.

Jason you go boy ~ "burn" that up burner ! I guess that I can post that they use to be on 148.15 w/146.2 PL
Well it might as well be a secret as I have not caught any CAP net check in comms for over a year or more ?
Bet ya there's a GREat chance that someone will post the freq/PL & day/time RX'd ( was 7pm Tues or Fri ?)
I remember if I blinked I would about miss their net all together as I can recall maybe 3~ish check-ins (2011).

Somebody forgot to tell that to the CAP wings that posted frequencies on their own unsecure web sites several years ago.
