Guad Co and City of Schertz Listenning ...
I have a few questions about what is still active and what is not active in Guad Co and Schertz area ONLY !
1)Let's toss my easy question out there first about Guad Co SO freq/tone info and current noted usage.
Guad Co SO-1 Dig 155.437500 FM NAC 351
Guad Co SO-1 Old 155.437500 NFM DCS 546
Guad Co SO-2 Lnk 155.902500 NFM DCS 546
Guad Co SO-3 Lnk 155.827500 NFM DCS 546
My question to Don, NC5267 and John, It is your observation that GCSO CH-2 is still the most active ?
I had a guy say that he has an old analog scanner model programmed to 155.9000 and he gets GCSO-2
however, his Pro-106 programmed as above will not stop while scanning to receive 155.9025 NFN DCS-546
He can manually sit on that channel and receive GCSO-2 GREat ! So what gives? ... (he lives in Marion area).
2) What from direct listenning expirience does the City of Marion PD and FD use for communication freqs ?
I would think for PD they might share the GCSO CH-2 of 155.9025 ... does asnybody know for sure ?
I would think that for Marion FD or VFD if they have one would share or be dispatched by Guad FD South?
Guad Co FD S-Pgr 155.070000 NFM DCS 351
Guad Co FD S-Dig 155.070000 FM NAC 2A5
3)OK, Don my last questions to the official Schertz Master, no one should know better that you
about that "what is" and "what is NOT" still in active use in your neighborhood ?
Conventional Freqs:
Schertz EMS Disp 156.015000 FM CTCSS 203.5 0 No longer used ?
Schertz/CiboloFD 159.060000 FM DCS 047 7 Got 7 hits today
Schertz/CiboloPD 159.120000 FM CTCSS 203.5 0 No longer uses VHF
Schertz PubWorks 453.475000 FM CTCSS 151.4 0 No hits or wrong freq ?
Live Oak Area EDACS TRS:
SchertzCitywide1 Group 01-097 0
Schertz FD Disp Group 01-102 0 (No Hits)
Schertz FD EMS-1 Group 01-105 0 (No Hits)
Schertz PD Disp* Group 01-112 234 ( I got 234 hits in just 24 hours on this TG)
Schertz PD CH-2 Group 01-113 0
LCRA-Live Oak P25 TRS:
Schertz FD Resp Group 12096 12
Schertz FD Tac Group 12097 0
Schertz EMS Disp Group 12095 22
Schertz EMS Resp Group 12098 80
Schertz EMS CH-2 Group 12099 1
Schertz PD Disp Group 12103 316 (Same traffic as EDACS TG, dominate RX Hits though)
Schertz PD CH-2 Group 12104 0
Schertz PD CH-4 Group 12105 0
Schertz Citywide Group 12092 0
Schertz AnmlCtrl Group 12140 18
Schertz PubWorks Group 12141 0
Wow, if you made this far I am very GREatfull for any and all comments for those with boots on the ground
in the Schertz area. Please pass along what your own observations have been concerning the above !
Thank You Very Very Much !!!

I can help you with Schertz. The old Schertz PD repeater on 159.1200 was shut down about two weeks ago. Cibolo PD has moved to the LCRA p25 system. Cibolo FD has also moved to the LCRA p25 system. The Cibolo FD channel 159.060 is patch to tg 12111 on the p25 system. Who knows how long the 159.060 will be working. I think the Schertz PW repeater on 453.475 is still working. I will check tomorrow. The Schertz EMS repeater is still workin on 156.0150. I don't Listen to the old Live Oak system. So I don't know what is still working.

Marion VFD is dispatched by the county on 155.070 or Fire South. The county tones out in analog. The rest of the time it is in p25 mode.

155.4375 is P25 with a NAC of 351 and is used by DPS in the county, unit to unit and dispatch by the SO. As far as the GCSO South channel 155.9025 I have it in my conventional scan list along with both FD channels and pick them up all the time. I saw a marion officer awhile back and he had a kenwood handheld so they are on the Nextedge system. PM 2101, he is the New Berlin Fire Chief and has the latest on GC.

concerning the fire departments...currently all volunteer fire departments are being dispatched on the listed fire north and south channels in analog mode. (it is simulcast from dispatch). when responding, the vfd's are using either of the two channels fire north or south in P25 mode to communicate with dispatch. (dispatch=GCSO). Most of the time, you will find Marion, McQueeney, Lake Dunlap, Kingsbury, York Creek and Geronimo VFD's on Fire North and Sand Hills, County Line and New Berlin on Fire South mainly due to coverage areas of the two repeaters. However, the capability is there for any user to use either of the repeaters as voting receivers are in place to allow for better talk in. there is ongoing discussion on some improvements to the county fire radio system however nothing has been set in motion as of yet. More info to come as it becomes available.

I'm still hearing some respond in analog, though I've heard mostly P25.

I don't listen to the county fire departments alot. The only time I do is if Schertz EMS is going to the county on a call.

GCSO 1 in both analog and P25 is active. Not sure the distinction between who is using which yet. Have heard DPS using GCSO 1 though in P25 (can't say I've heard any on GCSO 3 in awhile).
GCSO 2 is in analog (and evidently is the NexEdge patch, haven't tried to confirm that). I'm hearing Marion PD and jailers in analog still.
GCSO 3 is still being used by K9 deputies in analog and possibly other units.
I'll add more as I gather more.

some of the radios are programmed for mixed mode and when replying to a dispatch (if one responds in less than 5 seconds) the radios will automatically transmit in analog. Dispatchers do not have the capability to listen in analog mode so usually you hear someone respond in analog, there is a slight pause and then you will hear them in digital mode.

On what the database calls GCSO 1 155.4375 P25 I have heard K9 and DPS doing interdiction stops on I10 and hear GCSO dispatch DPS to accident calls around the county.
On a side note DPS was calling GCSO in P25 one time and the dispatcher answered in analog then switched to P25 real quick and said sorry she was transmitting in analog by mistake.

WOW, I am humbled by the GREat responses to "ALL" my questions
Thank You Don, Mark-NC, Kurt-2101, John-texasemt13 for all your detailed information !
So concerning the City of Marion:
Guad Co FD S-Pgr 155.070000 NFM DCS 351
Guad Co FD S-Dig 155.070000 FM NAC 2A5 (what is the Dec NAC ?)
I take it that 100% of Marion VFD traffic is monitorable on 155.0700 ? Tone Outs in Analog and Voice in Dig
Is it also safe to assume that Marion VFD can use the following Guad Co FD Tac channels once on location?
Guad Co FD Tac-1 159.780000 FM CTCSS 146.2
Guad Co FD Tac-2 159.810000 FM CTCSS 146.2
Guad Co FD Tac-3 159.840000 FM CTCSS 146.2
Guad Co FD Tac-4 160.065000 FM CTCSS 146.2
Guad Co FD Tac-5 160.170000 FM CTCSS 146.2
Guad Co FD UHF * 460.637500 FM Search (Is this CSQ or has a PL/DCS tone?)
As for the Marion PD would it be a good guess that 100% of their radio traffic CANNOT be monitored
only what is linked from the NexEdge system over to GCSO CH-2 155.9025 w/DCS=546 right ?
I would think they have other NexEdge TG's and T/A's ?
Lastly, Don a few days ago, I did log 9 hits in one day on Live Oak FD/EMS VHF.
Live Oak FD1/EMS 154.175000 FM CTCSS 203.5 9
Schertz EMS Disp 156.015000 FM CTCSS 203.5 13
Schertz/CiboloFD 159.060000 FM DCS 047 27
Also, is Cibolo still Dispatched by Schertz FD, or should I label it just Cibolo FD-1 Disp ?

Cibolo is still dispatched by Schertz. I would call it Cibolo FD 1. I heard Live Oak FD on 154.175 today.

I was hearing two K9s on GCSO 3 yesterday in analog. I bet they're relegated to one channel or another based on location right now.

Kurt (2101), I know you said that the McQueeney VFD mostly uses Guad Co FD North 155.9850 Rptr,
can they or do they also use any of the Guad Co FD Tac's 1 thru 5 ?
Guad Co FD N-Pgr 155.985000 NFM DCS 351
Guad Co FD N-Dig 155.985000 FM NAC 27C
Guad Co FD S-Pgr 155.070000 NFM DCS 351
Guad Co FD S-Dig 155.070000 FM NAC 2A5
Guad Co FD Tac-1 159.780000 NFM CTCSS 146.2
Guad Co FD Tac-2 159.810000 NFM CTCSS 146.2
Guad Co FD Tac-3 159.840000 NFM CTCSS 146.2
Guad Co FD Tac-4 160.065000 NFM CTCSS 146.2
Guad Co FD Tac-5 160.170000 NFM CTCSS 146.2
Guad Co FD UHF * 460.637500 FM Search (is this CSQ or does it have a tone ? )
Guad Co FD UHF i 465.637500 FM Search (repeater input and is it CSQ or does it have a tone ? )
Also does the McQueeney VFD, New Berlin VFD or Guad Co FD use or have these programmed in ?
Texas Fire-1 M/A 154.280000 FM CTCSS 127.3 or PL 203.5 ?
Texas Fire-2 M/A 154.265000 FM CTCSS 127.3 or PL 203.5 ?
Texas Fire-3 M/A 154.295000 FM CTCSS 127.3 or PL 203.5 ?
Thanks,
Michael-SATX

1. all county depts have access and use the GC tac 1 thru 5 channels. these channels are simplex only and one would need to be nearby the area in which they are being used. I used tac 1 saturday while working a grass/brush fire with Seguin FD. these channels are used on an as needed basis to move off of the primary dispatch channels for fireground ops.
2. all county depts. have access to and capability to use both Fire 1 digital (north) and Fire 2 digital (south). they are typically found on Fire 1 digital (North) though. this is done by making good use of voting receivers placed at each transmit site and one in the Marion area.
3. all depts. also have the latest "Interoperability" channels like the ones you mentioned however we have programmed the narrowband versions of these channels (vfire, vmed, txcall etc.)
4. soon there will be an upgrade to this system whereas all traffic from dispatch will be simulcast on both an analog pair of freqs and on the current digital system. I don't have the freqs yet as they have not been coordinated but they will be soon.
