Question Problems with Garland

I just programmed my BC346XT with info from Radio Reference, and I hear nothing. I was in the Jupiter/Kingsley area all day yesterday and heard nothing.

What changes do I need to make to get reception? I entered the trunk frequencies and fire and police talkgroups from the database page.

Did you apply the custom tables for rebanding?

Here they are for reference...

Para, as Kevin already noted, you do need the custom reband table for Garland to work properly. If you use FreeSCAN, see this post in a different thread. I made a file for another member in that area, and included Garland, among others. Your 346XT, of course, won't get the P25 systems in that file (such as Plano's PAWM or Richardson), but Garland, Mesquite, and Collin County are in there.

You use FreeScan to open it. You'll need to download it (it's free and it's spectacular!), see the link below...

The file I posted is a FreeSCAN file, but in order to upload it, it's been compressed. Save the file, then use WinZip or the free 7Zip to extract the FreeSCAN file inside, then open it with FreeSCAN.

Not for Garland.

The Pro-2055, and it's handheld sibling, the Pro-97, were not designed to allow firmware updates that would have allowed them to use the custom tables for some rebanded systems.

The Pro-2055 (or Pro-97) will work on some rebanded systems, such as the Ft. Worth/Tarrant County Public Safety system, as long as all of the site frequencies in the 851.0000 to 854.0000 range have a 5 in the fourth decimal position. That's the case in FW/TC, and also Arlington & N.E. Tarrant Co., to name a few.

However, for the Garland system, all of the frequencies under 854.0000 have a zero in that fourth decimal spot, so the custom tables must be used. For the Lewisville system, one of the system frequencies has a zero, so the custom tables are required there as well.

For a more complete explanation of why the tables must be used, and the reason why it causes a problem if not used, see the Rebanding article in the Wiki.
