With the addition of new agencies to the system(UTHSC PD, School Districts, Smaller Towns etc..) over the years and I assume all with the Gold site as their home site the time outs will keep happening. And the P25 upgrade is a ways off from what has been discussed on this site but I have heard it may be sooner than later, but that is just one source that I have familiar with the system.

Myself and others would be "mostinterested" as to when is this P25 upgrade scheduled to be complete ?
Will our P25 upgrade use the current 800 freqs or will this P25 upgrade use all new or present 700 freqs ?
ps ~ Also, is it known yet if our P25 upgrade will be of the encrypted variety ? All or some LE TG's etc ?
btw ~ I'm shootin' for the glass half FULL, rather than half empty of this insider information ... )

In good time. I'd look for it to be complete around 2015/16. No reason to switch to 700 when you already have a boatload of 800 freqs. I'm sure they will all be merged together.

Thanks, thats GREat info ... yes I figured with all those allready licensed 800 freqs, why not use them.
So, whats the future hold for the idle 700Mhz equip below. Who owns it ?( LCRA, SA or Dailey Wells)
Then there are lots of LE officers showing up with Dual Mode / Dual Band radios - how do they fit in ?

BC/SA owns the 5 site 700 system. It is for inter-op stuff only, and has no current plans for everyday BC/SA use.
The dual band radios (XG75's) are just a step in the right direction (P25 capable). All of the other platforms have reached end of life.
BTW: All of the newer radios on the market today are dual band.I don't believe that there is a 700 or 800only radio out there.
As far as half empty.... Should I be offended? (I know you are kidding)

So those 5 700 sites can just idle and presto a system admin can just enable a patch and there on?
Oh No Otter, I just figured that the Mostinterestingman out ranks you ... ) Ah some levity is good !

Not sure about rank, but I am the first born son.

I see said the blind man, so your the older one. I was just throwing in rank to gauge your reaction
Hmm, are you brothers ? No the odds are probably to high for that ? It's a small world sometimes !
Can our BC/SA 5 site 700 system be kicked on with just an admins mouse click or remote control?
Is it for inter-op patches with the LCRA's and or GATRRS 700 Mhz systems ? If not these then who's ?

I believe it's always on now that it is installed, and yes, I think the dispatchers can setup interop patches on it, as long as the officers have capable radios.

Yes, though as shown in the past, LCRA (and hence GATRRS) can also be patched straight to the ProVoice digital side, or an analog talkgroup. Theoretically, if they have the VIDA switch, they can pretty much patch to anybody.
